10 Sonic the Hedgehog images

10 Sonic the Hedgehog images

Sega released these 10 new images of Sonic The Hedgehog for 360 and PS3. As always now, these are "bullshots" with Sonic being rendered in higher resolution than the rest. Strange stuff.

not exactly very next gen, but should be fun, aslong as it plays more along the lines of sonic adventure 1, and not the inferior sequel.

will sonic only be rendered in a higher resolution in the screenshots and not in game?...thats very tricky of them

I would think the intention is to not have him stand still for long enough to notice! :P

The fourth picture is awesome, great depth. If this game will come with the same sense of speed the old games had it will at least be one great play-through.

Yeah, sonic ad 2 was boring, especially the knuckles and rouge levels - my god. Sonic ad 1 was superb though.

Man this looks great! I was worried about the generic backgrounds, but it seems they're adding quite a lot of moving debris and stuff like that to liven them up a bit.

High resolution, nuttily modelled backgrounds has a habit of going sterile and dead on you if there isn't enough activity.

I notice the shadows are looking a lot better than they did last time we saw screens.

I don't see Sonic in higher resolution, if anything, more attention is being put to him and I understand why they'd do that. The game doesn't look very good at all, so I don't see why complain.

This game's gonna be cool.

Backgrounds aside, I've never seen Sonic look so good. He does stand out a little from the back grounds though. It seems that Sonic uses the anti-aliasing while the backgrounds suffer with jaggies. Is it possible to just single out Sonic's character that way. I have my suspicions too.

This is dumb sega.. A next gen sonic game requires a new next gen engine.

Sonic 1 and sonic 2 for the dreamcast rocked!

it was the versions after that, that sucked..especially the shadow game

I'm glad the game went back to the sonic adventure 1 and 2 on the dreamcast..it was awesome, and this game should be fun

yeah, i don't know how they did it, but sonic doesn't show much jaggies while the backgrounds are a bit jaggied out. looking good overall, though!

and sonic ad1 & 2 were great(1 being my favorite)! man, where those knuckles stages boring, though! knuckles deserved more than that hah :)
the other guys, too. the sonic action stages were where it was at.

Have any of you seen the videos of this game? It looks amazing.

Actually I've taken it to the groin and played through most of Shadow the Hedgehog (I'm a relentless Sonic fan) and I must say, some of the Good and Bad path missions approach Sonic Adventure goodness. Especially the Good path has some excellent, well paced levels with really good music. Mad Matrix, Cryptic Castle and Circus Park for instance.

The worst levels are the main path stuff. Completely disgusting art direction and level progression, settings ranging from brown, dull cityscapes to factories and nuclear plants. Awful.

Of course the game isn't great by any real standards, but it's certainly better than the Sonic Heroes twitch fest.

Bit disapointed in the graphics (x'cept Sonic), it can be alot better. Especially pic.2; look at the flowers, grass, robot etc.
But hopefully it wont be noticeable if all the blur effects blend it all together...

For one thing the camera will never, ever be that low when you're playing anyway.

Bring back the Timer Sega, for old times sake.

The first ever sonic games was good and it was fast pace which i like, these screenshots are ok.

The textures look awful.

I hate to see sega still not pushing sonic seriously. Sonic1 and Sonic2 were techical, graphical and gameplay marvels at their time. Their best talent went into those games. The last time sonic team put their best into a game was with Nights, and perhaps sonic adventure 1 with some reservations.

Judging just by these screens, they arent really even trying. I realise 60fps etc, but DOA4 is 60fps too. Make sonic run through the worlds of DOA4 and I'm on board.

Its probably easy to program it where the areas around sonic are more anti-aliased, considering how its done anyway. Plus, with as fast as you'll be going you won't even notice jaggies if there are any in the final build.
