PC Xbox 360 PS3 PSP

Electronic Arts announced today the development of a new episode of the famous Battlefield series, called Battlefield: Bad Company. As always developed by DiCE using an in-house engine, this Battlefield should be much more story driven, with much more emphasis on the characters. First screen inside!

The game will be buggy as hell, and fps will be around 10-15. "Battlefield 2", 2142 uses same (buggy) engine. Nice to bring patches that bring up more bugs ;)

I think this one is using Unreal Engine 3.0, as EA recently licensed it and are probably going to use it in a shooter, as that's really all that's been shown off with UE3 as of yet anyway.

Why is this being posted on an Xbox site? Last time I checked this was only announced for the PC, was is it not?

Very believable still shots.

However, the animation needs to be top notch to maintain the belief of the illusion. So often i've seen great looking character models fall to peices believability-wise when they start to move because of poor animaion.

Blur & jaggies, looks like BF! I have a love-hate relationship with the current game already, what with its nonexistent support, crappy servers and physics and voice glitches. On the other hand the gameplay is really addictive. Damn you DICE, damn you to hell... oh I forgot, they're already in Sweden ;)

(just kidding, I'm Finnish)

Why can't they just make everyone happy and bring PC battlefield 2142 to the X360. It can easily do it... why "force" players to buy both games... oh wait.. its EA... makes sense now.

They're renders- not CG, not "in game". Sorry- please don't confuse the issue, I'm not a flamer of anything- but these are renders. Period.

these are not in-game or cg, they are simply a preset scene in the game engine, then rendered at a high res, as with most screenies untill the games get near to release.

After playing FNR3, i believe EA could pull this kind of amazing graphics easily, anybody remember before when alot of EA bashers used to be calling FNR3 graphics CG ^_~
That's, untill it came out for real =D
Please stop comparing a game with 2 characters in a small square ring with games that are in large arenas with physics, destructible enviroments, multiple characters on screen, etc. Theres a reason why DOA was the best looking Xbox game.

ya dx10 allows for some unbelievable effects but with the ps3 not being dx10 compatabile i don't think they are gonna use it :(... 360 has mostly dx10 support (missing some small stuff but then again it has some stuff beyond dx10 like the unified shaders and the daughter die)

It's very possibly ingame but no way to tell for sure. Just remember, it's amazing what good shaders can do :)
It's very possible, no.........more than possible that what you are looking at is just good ole Shader Model 2.0 cruising on DX9. High Def just brings out all of the graphics details.

I think it's going to be a very long time before we see a REAL DX10 game built from it's very foundation utilizing Direct 3D 10 elements. I mean despite all of the excitement about Crysis, it's still basically DX9 making use of miminal DX10 elements.

Developers are SUPER SLOW when it comes to adapting new development tools. It might surprise you to know that there are only about 10 games that have ever been developed using Shader Model 3.0. I have no idea when developers would start using Shader Model 4.0 which is arriving with Direct 3D 10 by way of Vista/DX10.

I wouldn't hold my breath to see too many DX10 based titles anytime soon. It could take more than year before developers get around to it. I don't want to say that developers are lazy, but they usually don't start rushing in to use something they haven't aquired a certain level of comfort with.

And stop comparing a game released shortly after 360 was launched with a game going to be released a year or two after, cookie, see GOW, Mass Effect and Unreal tournament 2007 for more information.
It appears you have a very low faith in what Next-Generation means.

Why ofcourse they are, FNR3, GOW and Mass Effect are all built on a pre-rendered engine too lol (=

CGI , EA are a bunch of lazy bastards that reuse code in each of their games , if you already bought Battlefield 2 Modern Combat then youre buying the same damn thing all over again.

Whats with the EA bashing?
DiCE are the ones making the game! EA just publish the game!

All the BF2 games have been good and by looking at some of the jaggies id saying this are ingame models
