2 new Project Sylpheed characters and a new video

Square-Enix updated the official Project Sylpheed page with two new characters: May and Sandra. The game will be released in less than one month in Japan, and we still have to see more than a few split seconds of gameplay, this is getting worrying.
Update: Just in time to prove my point, Microsoft put online this brand new trailer of the game, showing about 3 minutes of quite nice CG footage and juste a few seconds of gameplay.
Update 2: Added a slightly better looking version of the video.

Anyone else think anime characters start to look a little creepy with this much detail?

Yeah the characters are all terribly generic. You've also got the yound and eager hero, and of course the older brother figure who will OF COURSE be your enemy.

2 random anime girls, a affeminate guy, Mike Tyson and a Hooker, this sure is shaping up to be a good game.

The little bit of gameplay that was shown looked quite impressive.

Frankly, this is becoming less and less appealing every time I see it.

This game is my most wanted game of the year aside from PSU in october. Cant wait to pick it up, however ive always been a fan of the silpheed series and have been dying for a wing commander style game for ages. This looks to fill both catagories. Just hope it doesnt let me down.

I think I'll wait for Blims 10 minute special and a demo before I cast judgement.

isn't that typical squaresoft for you? i've always thought all of their characters were extreme stereotypes.

it looks good, even the few bits of actual gameplay. it seems to be somewhat story driven, which i'd appreciate as i enjoyed some of the older PC games that seemed to be similar, like the Wing Commander series.

Well the previous Silpheed game looked great without any characters, hopefully the focus will stay on the main business of big ships and big battles outside of fmv.

I see the game is destined for a 9-28-06 release..is that in Japan or in the US? If the US, I hope they do a good job with the voice acting and not the STRESSED way they do the Japanese in this game.

The little gameplay that is there looks nice, I suppose the 3-rd person perspective is best on a console environment.

it's only in Japan, AFAIK. i haven't seen a single western date.

I hope they'll release it in Europe.. Look great IMO

The game is developed by Game Arts. Can we at least do some research before bashing Square?

From what I could decipher with my atrophying Japanese, the story is more cliche than you all know.

Is is me, or did the gameplay cuts actually chop up towards the end?

I think this is just a throw-away project. Also, Game Arts is supervising (as they own the rights to the name), but I believe that another group is developing, while yet ANOTHER group is doing the CG cutscenes. Square Enix is producing.

Based off of the latest trailer (thanks, Blimblim), odds that this game is anything better than mediocre: 9 to 1.

Hoping for the best here...and hey, Game Art's f'n rocks. (or atleast they rocked).

well the actual gameplay looked better than I thought it would. Hopefully they won't get to into the overall story, cuz I don't give 2 cents a quarter about the story. Just let me blow stuff up. I hope this makes it over to the West, or they atleast release a demo so i can d/l it :(

Moonwalker @digi_matrix: Lol that is brilliant. I love when a dev puts detail like that in a game. How is Last Light by the way?Anyone playing it? Reviews a bit mixed... (5 Hours ago)
  • digi_matrix
digi_matrix I don't think you've played enough Metro, because there is humor in these games to offset. Uhlman in 2033 was pretty much comedic relief. Call of Duty takes itself more seriously than Metro. (7 Hours ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @Tinks: not fitting at all, but i guess it's fun..yeah, no argument there. (7 Hours ago)
  • Tinks
Tinks it's pretty innocent fun (7 Hours ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog I could see them working in a game with themes that fit, say, army of two, or team fortress. But it doesn't really have a place in a game like metro... (8 Hours ago)
