Is it possible to render sonic at that resolution and not other objects in the scene? I don't know. Educate me if you will. Sonic sticks out like a sore thumb. I don't know if I should be glad or confused. Everything around Sonic's model looks like Xbox visuals....

I agree the ground textures are really bad..

I was looking forward to a next gen Sonic Adventure style game, but seems Sega have stuffed it up again, i'll wait for Mario Galaxy i think.

This is blasphemy sonic is suppose to be a happy fun enjoyable game in a fantasy world....

Thank god for viva pinata, developers like to great original ideals and milk and saturate the crap out of them. They are going to ruin the franchise with this crap.

guys guys, about the ground and bg's, the game is coming in november, and in motion itll look alot better me thinks. :P

My excitement for this game drops everytime I see new screens. They really should have went with a different artsyle and look for this game,the characters really stick out compared to the realistic look of everything else. Cel shaded Sonic would look pretty good I think.

What's wrong with game developers and what's the deal with UGLY and OUT-OF-PLACE textures ??

Man, just when I thought it was safe to look again. This game really worries me, and the fact that this is the developer that did Shadow the Hedgehog really bothers me, although they were also responsible for the absolutely fantastic Sonic Adventure 2, so I guess it's all in the material that you have to work with.

Sonic has always had the 'edgier than you' thing going so I am not surprised.

I think it looks great and I can't wait to see that baby running on my Sony Bravia 46V2000U this November. Bash the game all you want to.

sonic adventure 2 sucked compared to the first game, this one at least looks like its gonna play more like the first, but the graphics are iffy at best, lets hope its more controllable the the previous 2, by that i mean precision controlling, still, i don't have high hopes for this

I reaaaaly long for the good old, beautifully animated 2D, days. I would pay mega bucks for a 2D game using all 360 power in 720p. It would soooooo rock!

Sometimes I wonder why Sega's consoles failed.. and sometimes I don't. This is one of those times where I know the reason why.

doctor robotnik (eggman) is a human, so why can't there be other humans in the game? anyway, ground textures won't be an issue in a game where you're supposed to be travelling at high speeds. like most other games, this will probably look much better in motion...

The human girl just totally throws off everything in the cg shots. She's got flinging strings of hair in the wind while Sonic looks like an inflated balloon with no fur. Either that or he's slick as a penguin. Like I said before, the girl is out of place because of her art style. Just look at Robotnik. Does he even look human enough to be in the same world with that girl?

Robotnik fits a helleva lot better than Sonic does. I was trying to figure out a way to describe how Sonic looks in that and I think you hit it right on with your inflated balloon discription.

As for sonic being 'too higher detail', well the 360 does have a geometry tesselation engine, so it can be made to dynamically increase the polycount. Heck the radeon 8500 could iirc, it's just you don't see many games use it, because most games don't have art that is suitable.
Even so, he doesn't look *that* higher polycount. The 360 can easily handle the level of detail shown.

After seeing cod 3 in motion I have faith this game somehow could manage to look surprisingly good even with such textures.

I'm now not putting anything out of the realm of possibility.

I for one am officially buying it! I had a bad taste in my mouth after heroes and
officially swore off Sonic.... but this! Oh but this... a-ha!

This will be in my collection and OMG Shadow can get out of cars!! I thought he was
cemented to them??

I don't get why people find the inclusion of the Princess to be odd? There's a really
nice image floating around on the net of Sonic saving her and loads of explosions
and falling metal in the background.

Personally, I can't wait to save her ass at 260MPH... 0_o

Power Rangers?

I'm with you, Tiz! This game in motion looked really good, and I hope it will be just as fun as SA1. Sega\Sonic team fell off for a while, but it looks like they are back! Doesn't have the old feeling of the past Sonic games that I was hoping it would have, but it still looks like it'll be a quality game.

And yeah, Sonic is looking too smooth compared to the background..like he's exclusively has higher level of AA applied. Whatever it is, I hope these are true shots.

Textures will never be zoomed in on like that when you play. The camera is pulled so far back it won't be noticable.
