It was hard to not actually laugh at this title when I first saw it, but it's true - it's the History Channel Civil War, a full price strategy title for the Xbox 360 (and Playstation 2). The game is now officially announced, with more info and some screenshots inside.
The game will be released the 14th of November in the US, and here is a fact sheet from the publisher Activision:
Immerse yourself in the intensity, carnage, and chaos of the war that divided a nation! Experience history brought to life in the first ever first-person action game based on the Civil War. Play as a Confederate or Union soldier in America’s most historic battles including Gettysburg, Bull Run and Antietam. Use authentic firearms, fight in intense hand-to-hand combat, place explosives, sabotage enemy artillery, destroy buildings, and more!
KEY FEATURES:
· America’s Most Historic Battles – Twelve of the most famous battles in the Nation’s history including Gettysburg, Bull Run and Antietam. And the target audience would be? Well this might be fun to play on live ;)

Now i dont think that anyone but those 2 hardoce historical battle fans in this world care about increbibly accurate battlegrounds :s And talking about super immersive battles. I've playd bia, cod and all those war games and while they were fun to play, never really felt anything special. It's good thing that this games going to fix that.
You know, there's a very large subset of computer gamers that are into startegy games bigtime. I think this might convice a few of them that might not have 360s to pick one up. Incedentally, this game has rather nice graphics, considering it's a strategy game. This is an area of gaming usually dominated by 2-D sprites and a crapload of text.

they dont play RTS games on consoles cause RTS games just don't work on consoles. the ONLY one that did okay on it was LOTR:BFME2. All other attempts have hardly been even worth checking out.
Even with LOTR, it controls much better on a PC. I highly doubt this game will draw PC gamers to the 360 ...
Not to mention, this is yet another game being developed on a last gen and next gen system at the same time, and we know what that means ...
abaddon1125: Err, when (if ever) did you last play an RTS? Games like Dawn of War, Age of Empires 3, Company of Heroes, LoTR: BFME (to name a few more recent examples) have beautiful graphics. No sprites or "crap load of text" in sight.
Again another comment about PIC #4:
If you look at the faces of the two men, you know the one stabbing and the one getting stabbed, it's like he's stabbing his clone, hehehe!
Here here! Join me at the Officer's club for a song over a glass of brandy and mustaches.
Really dont know what to think about this. And if they wanted to honor a grueling war of brother against brother they ought to make it a mature rated game. Eventhough war documentaries should never be age classified, its the kids who need to know the most.
FINALLY!!! Some historical first-person warring that has absolutely nothing to do with the Middle East or World War 2.
The game looks half decent and if it plays well with full XBL support, then count me in. With luck the game will actually be good and sell well, then maybe we can see more games featuring other modern wars throughout history, and not just more of the same old rehash Persian Gulf and WWII . . . heck, I'm surprised they have not combined those two genres yet and shown us what WWII was like in the Persian Gulf area (LOL)

EXACTLY! I'm highly excited, and it's funny that this is just announced because I was talking about how cool it would be to have a Civil War game for the 360.
