The PS3 screenshots are 1080p and the 360 ones are 720p, this accounts for the jaggyness.
No, 1080p pics have aa and 720p dont. It is a porn shot.

yea i do too, but its always the "bad games" that get most coverage.

good news doesnt get hits....bad news does
gears is amazing...but it will always be "ps3 is sooooo much better than the 360 because virtua tennis looks better"
if you think virtual tennis will get more attention than gears of war, mass effect, bioshoch, assasins creed you are severely mistaken

how can you say people will say "ps3 is sooooo much better than the 360 because virtua tennis looks better" plainly ignoring games that put any ps3 game to bed at 6pm with their milk

*sigh*

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for this game not to be using antialiasing on the 360. The graphics are average enough as they are, it's hardly going to destroy the frame rate (when it should have practically no effect anyway).

The PS3 shots show 'selective' antialiasing. The players and the net have been blurred slightly, or maybe supersampled. It's hard to tell. But they are certainly *not* using proper MSAA. Consider that 1080P with antialiasing = 60+mb framebuffer.

The shadows look a lot better on the 360. Thats about all I can say.

I smell marketing forces at work here. *cough*true-hd*cough*

Pity that PS3 version will NOT HAVE ONLINE [at least that last news I heard]
X360 will play on Live.

Well Sega, you guys just shot yourselves in the foot by having two different development teams port something as simple as a tennis game. Anti-aliasing is a strong graphical feature of the Xbox360 and you guys couldn't even do a tennis game without jaggies. I'll boycott this one. Where the hell is TopSpin?

This is the problem with trying to create realistic looking games. The characters just end up looking awkward. Not stylized, not realistic, just awkward.

One more thing the only PLUS X360 version has is SOFT SHADOWS - compare 4 and 10 for example.

Both versions look the same to me.. Only difference is that the PS3 version obviously uses more anti-alliasing or a higher resolution..

For me personally I care more about AA then high resolutions like 1080p because I don't even have a 720p HDTV, let alone a 1080p one.. So the more AA the better for me since I play all my games still at a lousy 480p..

Anyway.. I'll probably won't buy this game, since I already have Topspin 2.. Unless offcourse this game turns out a lot better then that.. But I doubt it (especially when it comes to more realistic gameplay)..

^Agreed.

I think PS3 shots are at 1080p? Makes some difference. But shadowing is a bit too hard on the PS3 now that you mention it...Dammit I didn't even notice it until you said it :( heh

I'm sure it will have online? Although Sony is pissing off some devs by not giving them the online info. Bad Sony, ha.

really nice pics

I'm not convinced , that the X360-Version has soft-shadows though , for on Nadal(X360) there are no "object"-shadows like on the two PS3-close ups.

Sorry antena, the PS3 version has no online, at least they said it didn't have online "yet", meaning it may end up in the game by release date, or they may update the game to allow online.

Higher resolution. With the Bandwith the PS3 for the GPU (which is only slightly more then the non EDRAM bandwith of the 360) they can't do much AA. However the resolution helps alot. Basically that is what AA is. Upscalling the frame then downscaling.

Basically the Arcade version just uses a GPU that is a generation earlier of the same brand from Nvidia (Geforce 6 series) therefore GPU wise it is really easy to port to PS3. They don't even need to use the SPE's and it can just run on the PPE alone. Since the Arcade version has a P4 at about the same megaherz (which basically is slower per clocktick). The only thing the Arcade version has over both consoles is the amount of memmory. The rest, beside that, both consoles own Lindbergh.

360 has an:
1. An ATI GPU (also giving alot of trouble with the BC of the 360 because the Xbox had an Nvidia one. Just to show you how incompatible those things are.)
2. The Xenos is a wierd new kind of GPU. Unified shaders, EDRAM, etc are only now making its way to PC on both the Nvidia cards and the ATI cards. They do add functionality though, like Physics. As Nvidia is now demonstrating with thier Physics on the Unified Shaders. (Same goes for ATI and Havock Companies). The RSX is a conventional one.
3. Has a different DEV team for this game and the PS3 has the original team.

Sorry to say this again. :). I just hate it if anybody puts the PS3 or the 360 down on 1 game with things that simply arent true like the Anti Aliasing thing ;).

I have to admit that is a huge loss. I was really looking forward to online play :(

Hey, Jedi man (lol that sounds funny) can you post here if Sega confirms online for the PS3 version?
Thanks.

Hello,

Before you all get carried away, I'll just point out that the VT3 PS3 shots are from a very recent version of the game, whilst the Xbox360 shots are months old (they're taken from the demo we did for E3).

Wait and see before comparing things, we might just surprise you yet :P

Wow, look at all the aliasing on the Xbox 360 version compared to the PS3. Forget on-line, when a game looks this good on PS3, it's time to get the mates around with a few beers and order pizza.
