Rainbow Six Vegas: Mexican border

Rainbow Six Vegas: Mexican border

Ubisoft released this video of Rainbow Six: Vegas presenting a new level: A town at the mexican border. I think everyone will immediatly see how good it looks, but also how close to Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter it looks. Considering this game uses Unreal Engine 3, the french team behind the single part of GRAW can be proud.

My God, they use the F word!
But really, very GRAWish, not that its a bad thing. This is GRAW with smaller levels and more tactical approach I'd say.

Hu hu. It's done by the Montreal team, as always. Reading comprehension FTL.

Its first person...3rd only when you are in cover.

I thought third person might be a no no, but I'm kinda seeing why they did that. It's like an evolution of looking around corners.

Reminded me so much of GRAW when I saw it, really impressive. I can't wait for them to show some multiplayer gameplay.

Looks fantastic, arguably superior to GR:AW graphically with a smoother framerate and no obvious pop up. I love the seamless switching between first and third person views which allows you to shoot from cover, etc. It even incorporates elements from the Splinter Cell games. Can't wait to play this one...

Wow, I never realized this game was using UE3, I always assumed they were using the same engine as GRAW. Looks great, can't wait!

None of you played the original Rainbow Six 3 on Xbox? Game was sooooo much fun, and then the future releases ruined it

Hopefully it returns to that fun, I have heard it does though

Damn, those gun sounds are just awesome. I hate it when you fire a big gun, and it sounds like you're firing a toy weapon. These guns really pack a punch, makes killing terrorist all the more satisfying.

Yeh i like when a gun is detailed and sound real at the same time, trailer looks good.

I hated the change to 3rd person when taking cover in PDZ. It mad the game feel so disjointed. The way they did the transition in this does look a bit better though. It is faster and the camera moves directly to the reticule instead of going into your avatars head.

If you guys don't like the 3rd person part, don't go into cover. It's as simple as that. You may also want to stay away from ladders.

I hope the framerate improves vastly in the retail version.

Seems that most people that have played the demo in this months US edition of 'Xbox360' think the poor framerate spoil an otherwise AAA game.

this is better than GRAW imho, because:

- it's first person
- the weapons sound sweet! especially reloading-sounds.
- you don't have to lead your squad through the whole level by tapping "follow me" all the time/saying where they should go.
- you don't have a stupid flying robot.
- it looks better
- I LOVE IT :)

Except for the helicopter part running at 15 fps (urg), the rest of the vifeo ran at a rather good 30 fps. It's badly encoded (field blending instead of frame dropping for the 29.97 fps conversion) though, so I don't know for sure if it's really smooth or not.

Yeah the encoding is horrible, it makes it look really low in resolution.

Beautiful lighting and shadows.

And o yeah, it's not made by the french.

I'm getting this game a li'll bit sooner to review it, that's good, because I know for sure that I never would've bought it in the month Gears is comming.

GriftGFX Maybe.. it's different for pre-loaded stuff too. (8 Hours ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer @GriftGFX: well Dragon age extracted is suppose to be arround 20 gigs but the download was only 8 gigs or 15 gigs...procedure might be different for newer games (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX 45 minutes for this game would have to be like... 3+ megabytes per second. My Comcast can't do that. (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX My FFOW DL is almost 12.9 gigs and like 95% done. (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Steam appears to download extracted and installed, there's no install process once you finish downloading a game. (8 Hours ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer D2D file right now is 9.2 GB's. I think it was less when I was downloading it (now its extracted) I am pretty sure Steam works the same way. 12 gb is probably the extracted size :P (8 Hours ago)
