Rainbow Six Vegas: Mexican border

Rainbow Six Vegas: Mexican border

Ubisoft released this video of Rainbow Six: Vegas presenting a new level: A town at the mexican border. I think everyone will immediatly see how good it looks, but also how close to Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter it looks. Considering this game uses Unreal Engine 3, the french team behind the single part of GRAW can be proud.

lol you have never played GRAW, GRAW is silky smooth 30fps while this looks like its jumping between 25 and 30fps.

Looks fantastic, arguably superior to GR:AW graphically with a smoother framerate and no obvious pop up. I love the seamless switching between first and third person views which allows you to shoot from cover, etc. It even incorporates elements from the Splinter Cell games. Can't wait to play this one...

They're really reshaping what Rainbow Six is, and it looks like they mean to go all the way with that perogative. I was not optimistic about the large levels--I have always regarded Rainbow Six as a game about planning and executing takedowns where terrorists were holed up, whereas invading terrorists bases were left for other spec op branches. Looks like Rainbow is no longer focused on hostage rescue.

This video's open and hostage-less environment setup really surprised me. I think it will make people looking for another pre-Lockdown Rainbow Six disappointed, but I really enjoyed GRAW's campaign and think I could learn to like this twist.

The sound was very impressive in this one--glad that remained the same. The flow of the game looks more visceral that Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and the new engine looks like it's coming along well.

I wish we saw more civilians in those sprawling areas, but I think the core of the single player game is looking good and fun.

It looks pretty good actually, much better than the Casino level, though it just edges GRAW which is a shame because I did expect more from this game.

I love the 1st/3rd person combo, that is very nice indeed.
Downside is the framerate and tearing, which seems to becoming a Ubisoft trademark...

I find watching people throw the "sarcasm" defense more entertaining. They can't see themselves being insulted for stupidity and quickly pull a "It's a joke, dumbass! HAHA!".

Also, you might want to learn how to type. And not be stupid. Yeah.

Now on to the topic at hand:

This game looks amazing. Wasn't all that interested at first, and never really got into RS3, but this game looks all kinds of fun. Pre-ordering it tomorrow.

@newbielives - Yes, I have played GR:AW and I found it disappointing technically. It had a stodgy framerate, v-sync tearing and near objects that noticeably popped into view when you turned quickly or peeked around corners. Plus the reflections in the windows and textures were pretty poor. It wasn't a bad looking game, at times it looked very nice indeed (glitches aside) but it wasn't what I'd call next-gen quality at all.

Rainbow Six Vegas looks far slicker but then you'd expect that from a newer game as the developers have learnt how to make better use of the hardware.

(P.S. I can't comment on the framerate because I haven't played the final game but from the videos it looks fine to me).

graw was a pretty solid game. although, it really was basically a playable HDR tech demo at heart. i mean the damn thing didnt even use xbox1 normal mapping. yeah the materials were pathetic. at least the multiplayer mode used some normal mapping...

vegas looks to be the perfect mix of all of the ubi franchises crafted to perfection.

this game looks great. yeah it's similar to Graw, but it's different in alot of ways aswell. The focus on indoors and tight quaters is a big difference. and the feel of the game itself seems more like an over the top action movie, where as graw is like a war movie. i dunno, i can't way to play this.

Doom_Bringer @GriftGFX: well Dragon age extracted is suppose to be arround 20 gigs but the download was only 8 gigs or 15 gigs...procedure might be different for newer games (7 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX 45 minutes for this game would have to be like... 3+ megabytes per second. My Comcast can't do that. (7 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX My FFOW DL is almost 12.9 gigs and like 95% done. (7 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Steam appears to download extracted and installed, there's no install process once you finish downloading a game. (7 Hours ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer D2D file right now is 9.2 GB's. I think it was less when I was downloading it (now its extracted) I am pretty sure Steam works the same way. 12 gb is probably the extracted size :P (7 Hours ago)
