Images from the Tony Hawk P8 demo

Images from the Tony Hawk P8 demo

Activision has announced that a demo of Tony Hawk's Project 8 will be released on the Marketplace today, and here is a bunch of images from the demo. Some of them was previously released in June, so I guess the demo is quite an old build of the game. I also added a group of images released last week which we forgot to write about.

We need some more ingame footage to see how it looks, when the game is in play it looks alot better than images, but these screens looks ok.

Although it does look better than the last efforts (no surprise really) it still doesn't live up to the video's they showed a while back.

makes you wonder how game developers do stuff if the demos are old builds which they usually are. I mean I can program mini games. Surely its not hard for them to release the full base code in a demo but include only 1 song, 1 level and 1 character in the package.

I want a realistic skateboarding game... I really really thought tony hawk 8 was going in that direction from what was seen in the very early videos... but it's the same BS 'grind for 20 yards with amazing balance' kinda arcade crap that I played and got over in teh first and second games in the series... only thing different is it supposedly has nicer animations, but you can hardly tell since the game moves so fast and the transistions between animations suck balls.

I want a Thrasher in the next gen.

What's the deal!? I thought Neversoft was going to make this game realistic!

the demo is up. Only in the US though, so I signed in using my US account, go to all demos instead of new demos and its there. Pretty small at only 300 and odd MBs though. Downloading it now.

342mb , but the demo sucks damn it.

The best parts in the demo are the 60fps performance (with an annoying tick-stutter that skips a frame once a second), somewhat oddball ragdolls (with dave mirra and saints row wannabe ragdoll bailing + burnout aftertouch) and pretty decent graphics.

It's still a super-arcade skateboarding game though.. very little weight or mass (realism) to be found.

I've never liked skategames, but considering the crunchy graphics, I'd might try it when it get's a discount.

What's up?
  • digi_matrix
digi_matrix Paranormal Activity was insane, totally deserves being the most profiting indie film ever made. I saw the original version, not the theatrical one. WAY BETTER! (5 Hours ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Nope, no such prestige I'm afraid. Just 1½ year of comic making and ICQ channel community on quakenet of all places. :) 2002 doesn't sound far back but it's soon 8 years ago. Time sure does roar past. (11 Hours ago)
  • Megido
Megido Did you make comics and stuff for kong back in the day? The art looks similar :) (12 Hours ago)

  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Thanks :D and yeah I do. M7 was originally a webcomic, and the idea now is to make it a bit of an entertainment blog in general and a webcomic. Only done two strips so far since I rebooted it in may. (13 Hours ago)

alimokrane @SimonM7: Dude That's amazing. Do u draw that stuff ?? (14 Hours ago)
