The Darkness images

The Darkness images

2K Games also released these images, new as far as I can tell, of The Darkness. I wonder if the Starbreeze developers will manage to surprise us as much as with the incredible Riddick.

Awesome! I dont think they showed any multiplayer footage yet? Playing as a Darkling sounds fun :D
I hope this one gets reviews in the 9+ range.

These images are very nice. Yeah I would also like to see how the multiplayer is going to work and how they are going to make use of his powers over the multiplayer. What would be cool is like a mode where you can only use darklings to kill people. Haha that would be great with the tenticles and just see someone fly across your screen. Well hopefully the multiplayer will be better than dark watch.

i don't know really. Some of the screens do look pretty darn good, but a batch in the middle are really less than stellar. almost seems like two different games...

Are the screens all from the same version, Blim? 'Cause it really looks like two different lighting engines...

hmm.. I'm wondering...

Very interested in how the multiplayer mode pans out, although I'm most interested in seeing how the campaign works out. A lot of my faith in this game revolves around just how wonderful a game Riddick was..I have some high expectations here.

Seems almost every game has some sort of multiplayer component these days, but some games pull it off far better than others. In a lot of games, multiplayer seems like a after thought more than anything.

Yea..they've revealed a (very) little bit about how that will work, too.

In terms of multiplayer, you'll actually play as Darklings online, and "face other players in traditional multiplayer modes as well as all-new innovative game modes". After Riddick's missing multiplayer mode, it's nice to see Starbreeze taking this side of the gameplay seriously.

Looking very good, since they made Riddick which was one of the best games ever made, this should good too.

Does anyone know what kind of superpowers this guy has? Is he immortal?

Actually the shots looks heavily photoshop'd(edit: might be cutscenes), Except those in the middle with the tentacles.... Im sure the game will be great when its done!

GoW raised the gfx bar to ridiculous heights - fortunately gameplay is all that matters. :)

Is every UE3 game destined to look the same? I'm not sure what it is about UE3 that does it, possibly the bloom effect.

Well, Rainbow Six and Gears of War are day and night in my opinion.

On topic: This game looks very nice and promising, just don't know if it's my kind of game (hopes for a demo).

nope, i dont know what it runs at, hence my question :D

and if wae have to sacrifice AI and gameplay for frame rate i dont want 60fps (fall of duty 3)

GoW didn't raise the bar to ridiculous heights. This game definitely has better textures. GoW just does a good job of making everything not look flat.

Time travel in a video game. Especially to WWII era. How unique.

Looks sweet aside from that, which I think is retarded. They should have kept it a presently set game.

I doubt they cut much AI or gameplay from COD3 to boost it to 60fps--COD2 is a much better game in both, and it also ran at 60fps. The big cut to COD3 was/is the developer. It wasn't a terrible game, but they should have just made an expansion pack for Call of Duty 2 instead. There are many, many things wrong with part 3.

italianice: have you read the comic books? I'm not really clear on what the story is here (I haven't really seen any time travel in the darkness, but perhaps I'm not looking very hard?), but I'd imagine that it ties into the source material.

  • Doom_Bringer

  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Maybe.. it's different for pre-loaded stuff too. (7 Hours ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer @GriftGFX: well Dragon age extracted is suppose to be arround 20 gigs but the download was only 8 gigs or 15 gigs...procedure might be different for newer games (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX 45 minutes for this game would have to be like... 3+ megabytes per second. My Comcast can't do that. (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX My FFOW DL is almost 12.9 gigs and like 95% done. (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Steam appears to download extracted and installed, there's no install process once you finish downloading a game. (8 Hours ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer D2D file right now is 9.2 GB's. I think it was less when I was downloading it (now its extracted) I am pretty sure Steam works the same way. 12 gb is probably the extracted size :P (8 Hours ago)
