Xbox 360 PS3

EA and Dice just revealed the first teaser of Battlefield: Bad Company on the 360 Marketplace, and it totally caught us off-guard. It's funny, and the graphic engine seems solid. We can't wait to see more !
Update: 720p version added.

Why not? Xbox360 has been out over a year now, isn't it about time developers have learnt how to make games like this run on the console? Just look at Team Fortress 2, just because it doesn't look "real" it still looks amazingly detailed, just as this is.

I see the doubters have returned. After Gears of War I'm surprised anyone would even ask if it's realtime.

Gezz this is getting so old. I'm beginning to think we have alot of posers around here who really don't actually own an Xbox 360.

Still faking AA by blurring, still looking like crap doing it.

I'll go ape if this game is good because I've vowed to boycott EA after the BF:MC debacle... unfortunately the online gameplay will likely rule, if you can get past all the glitches that is (post-release support will blow, I promise). Destructible environments and aiming down the sight seem to be the major new features... and possibly a functional mic (jab at BF:MC for those not in the know).

Ya, they announced ages ago that it would have destructible enviroments.. like they gave an example and said you could shoot down trees and use them as cover etc..

There seems to be some confusion surrounding "in-engine" and "in-game."

"In-engine" refers to anything rendered in real-time via the engine. It's what the gameplay will look like, usually. The noteworthy exception would be the cutscenes of Halo 2, where they were rendered in-engine, but with noticeably better lighting than the gameplay.

"In-game" is just that. Anything in the game is "in-game." Generally this term is used when showing actual gameplay, though, as the footage is taken directly in the game.

There are also people doubting whether this is real-time or not. I have not played the game, but considering 100% of the media released on this game has looked equal to the video provided, along with EA's and DICE's word that this is 100% in-engine, it's pretty safe to assume this is what the final game will look like.

Hopefully that clears some stuff up.

Marketing finally released the movie of the in-engine teaser we created for Battlefield: Bad Company a while ago. This is the same movie I showed at SIGRAD a few months ago as part of my Frostbite presentation.

It is exclusive for Xbox Live Marketplace for now but it has already spread to websites such as Xboxyde (SD version), Xboxyde (720p version), Youtube and Google Video.

The HD version seems to have been quite heavily compressed, I'm sure some other site will release a better version pretty soon.

For the technically interested, yes this is real-time footage from within our new Frostbite engine. It is a 720p direct feed captured from a Xbox 360 devkit running at about 25 fps with no additional offline post-processing or such.

Its all real :D

Just like the Halo3 E3'06 trailer, without AI etc...

I'll wait till I see some actual gameplay footage... ;)

True, but we still haven't seen real Halo 3 gameplay footage yet either. Of the singleplayer that is.

What we saw in the E3 06 trailer for Halo 3 was a real-time in-engine moment from the singleplayer. But of course not actual gameplay. I think we'll be impressed with both :)

Well, they have quite some competition going on by the time they release (graphics wise) so it'll take quite something to impress I think.

We'll see... ;)

I love how the movie trailer voice guy plays on all the stereotypes of an action movie, and the other 2 just keep putting him down. It's nice to see devs put a sense of humour in their game, or at least their trailers.

I'm a huge fan of BF42 and BF2. Played Codename Eagle on the PC and knew this is the future (and sure enough Dice bought Refractions and made BF1942).

But now that they are EA's slaves I'm not too sure about this. We need an ACTUAL NEXT-GEN BF game in the lines of PC BF2 with dedicated servers and 64 players, balls-out action.

BF2MC might be the only X360 game with dedicated servers, but even that is not good enough!

Amen. 2142 killed a small piece of me. Modern Combat too.

Another "new" BF game already?? It looks good, but how much better or different is this gonna be from BF2/BF2142? Is it really a next-gen BF, or just like BF2142 more of the same? And is it also online MP, or just SP? Destructable maps sound like SP only to me, but if they can pull it off in MP that would be very cool (real next-gen).. If RTS games like Company of Heroes can pull it off, why not FPS games..

And to bad those guys from DICE are not working on a RSC3.. I really miss that game on Xbox 360.. :(

Well this is more of a sequel to Modern Combat than 2142. I imagine they'll show a new Battlefield for PC before too long as well..I don't doubt that 2142 was a stop gap product.
