First Tiger Woods 08 images

First Tiger Woods 08 images

EA Sports released these first images from the Xbox 360 version of Tiger Woods 08. Quite a few graphical upgrades since the last episode, and it certainly was necessary.

Always with same graphics

Yeah... still quite mediocre, especially the character model.

Oh about the 07 version... you can control the ball in the air (spin) throughout the whole shot, or was I imagining it? :)

Maybe they'll bring 08 back to this planet at least.

your joking about the character model bit right?

The crowd looks weird in the last pic. Just take a look at their hands...

Not really. It has ok detail, but the small things just don't click, say image 03. Doesn't look like a human much when you compare it to high end character models like in some fighter titles and even FPS games.

There's just a feeling of lack of polish that I get from looking at the images of this game, still.

The model could have a lot less polygons and look more natural and better is what I mean.

Just another pushed out ea game, where they rehash last years crap and slap a new year number/version number on it.

I stopped playing their sports games years ago, its such a niche market, that the only people buying this crap are the diehards and sometimes (as with the nfl games) its really because there is no other choice for them.

SCREW EA.

Id say its more casual gamers. You get the type who only play sports games and the 'big' games which are hyped up a lot through word of mouth etc.

It really makes me angry when EA throws out "new" games every year without putting any time or effort into making them better (or different) from previous versions.

The game itself looks pretty much exactly the same as 07 with a slight use of DOF or blurring!

Its Litterally just another money grabbing franchise from EA.

Tiger Woods 200*... Let it go guys..!

The making millions of this franchise, why would they drop it? They probably have small team working and there is a market for this game, sure many of us don't like what EA is doing but lets face it, sometimes money talks and business is business.

Nobody ever complains about all the crapy games coming out on PC, there are hundreds of them each year, if it doesn't appeal to you move along, nothing to see here...

talk about jaggies specially the first pic!!!! man they really need to sort this out imo

this game, regardless of graphics, has been very MEH ever since it has been on the Next Gen systems. The series has gone downhill since Tiger Woods 04. I didn't find 05 very fun when I hopped on xbox live and averages were like -28. That is just not fun. You don't even feel rewarded for hitting birdies anymore in this game because it's so easy.

Saying that, the graphics on tigers face are very impressive. It looks like he is conveying different emotion in most of those shots.

I love how you think you know what a game needs to be good...

Gears of war has NO Anti-Aliasing at all... when a game is in motion it looks infinitely better especially where AA is concerned.

You guys think that his model is low poly? What crack are you smoking do you even know what that means? How is this:
http://images.xboxyde.com/gallery/public/5325/1249...

even remotely low poly, if anything it needs to be scaled down a bit, a lot of the divisions on that model are un-needed.

Well, luckily they EA got the textures on the end of the club right! Phew! Would've been awkward otherwise! Imagine playing a golf game with low res textures on a model that 99.9% of the time consists of a tiny speck on the screen. Disaster!

I'm troubled by the fact that effort is put into things like that. Couldn't developers be more effective in their game building, save a few million bucks and some time (that for instance could be used to add some significant, fun gameplay tweaks) instead of misdirecting attention like that? At least the choke-hold the PS2 has had on developers for a while has taught them to prioritise and work on the overall impression you get when you play the games.

Someone told me that in the "HD era", screenshots sell games though. I never thought about it like that before, but I can totally hear someone say "wow, look at the detail on a small insignificant thing like the golf club - yaaaay!" and then never notice it ever once they get the game.

they should do more than just upgrade the graphics, always the same with sports games and people are still stupid enough to buy the new ones every year!

I think it looks wayyy better than last years, everything seems to be the right color now.

EA's artists are horrible. Of any game on the market, Golf should look real. Instead it looks stylized and I am sure there will be jaggies again this year.

I wouldn't go so far as to say EA's artists are horrible but I will say that what is shown in these screenshots are very disappointing. The texture work and shading are completely unrealistic.

They could have at least borrowed the FIFA 07 grass shader to make it look remotely 3D.

and also a more... subtle blur? It seems to go for clean to blurred at a set distance, no gradient to the blur - for example http://images.xboxyde.com/gallery/public/5325/1249...

just behind the bush, it goes blurred. Also, look at the grass on the hill.

The thing is - I didn't even study these pictures closely. This was an instant observation that would bug me constantly if I were playing the game.

once again, screenshots = jaggies, get that into your thick skulls, sheesh

BlimBlim, you need to start mentioning the jaggie situation on every new batch of screenshots, cause its just getting ridiculous, FSAA being added as a kind of, post process, thus jaggies are apparent.

The character model is superb, but the world details are too clean and amateurish. They need to hire an actual graphics artist to replicate the real world instead of letting the tech-geeks do a little texturing in the evenings. The wooden barrier in the pool is a good example. Also the engine needs depth fog and general atmosperhic effects, the world looks like a scale model under a halogen bulb. But props for sharp textures and native 720p (and hopefully smooth fps).

Better graphics, less content...Thats the way of EA, Its really sad. :(

There's a new team that are developing this years version. I hope it will be better than 07.

I'll be the one to say it: That Sasquatch looks awesome! I'm a bit biased about such things, but that is a pretty good recreation of the real thing. Oh, and I doubt it cost anything for EA model that club...depending on the nature of Tiger's contract with EA and his contract with Nike, I suspect that Nike's put a bit of money down for the exposure. Maybe not though...perhaps his contract with nike stipulates that he be in Nike gear in golf related activies, virtual or otherwise. Given his status though, I'm not sure that the contract would be that restrictive.
