As promised, here is the first video from the beta of Halo 3, in 720p but shorter version so the size was acceptable. The full video in 640x360 will be online in about 30 minutes. More videos will of course follow.
Worth mentioning, the awesome performance of Snoopers, our own Benny Hill.
Update 1: Complete version in 640x360 available, as a stream too.
Update 2: Second video in 720p short version online!
Update 3: Long version 640x360 of the second video.
Update 4: Let's be done for tonight with this last 720p video.
Update 5: Some people asked for it, so there is the title screen and its music.
Update 6: As expected, here is the complete version of the first video in 720p resolution.
Update 7: This time I'm really done with this news. Enjoy the second video in full 720p glory.

Commented on 2007-05-11 23:01:01Anyway I'm bored of educating people :P I think the multiplayer looks great, typical Halo style with some excellent next-gen upgrades.

also, didn't he mention that not all the maps are up to date? I believe the Snow Level is the most up to date out of the bunch. Which is why it looks the most polished out of the 3.

Commented on 2007-05-11 23:46:07 In reply to Optimusv2People were annoyed that Double Agent "looked exactly like Chaos Theory", but the improvements in that game were identical to the improvements in this - somehow people seem to overlook the similarities between this and Halo 2 for some reason. Do we cut FPS' special slack?
Still though, there's hope that multi is deliberately held back. Apparently Bungie themselves implied something to that effect.
I must admit I do feel a bit depressed.. I really hoped it would have an entirely new and fresh feel to it, just as I did with Double Agent.

Commented on 2007-05-11 23:52:48Singleplayer is where I think they can afford to take risks and go crazy. Does it really run on Halo 2 engine? I may have read that somewhere, but it slips my mind.

Commented on 2007-05-12 00:04:34 In reply to SimonM7sure it looks fun, but how much more fun than Halo 2.
Too many weapons (inc deployables) IMO could potentially take away from rather than improve gameplay.

Commented on 2007-05-12 00:26:39I myself never expected a graphical revelation, and am quite satisfied by the MP. Altho I can't deny whishing for some improvements too, especially the colorpallete and the lightning, they just look very uninspired from an artistical point of view.
What I'm most concerned about are the maps. My favorites from Halo 2 are Lockout and Midship. I just don't like the vastnes of Blood Gulch, can't imagine why this map is so popular. Weapons never made that game complex, it were the maps. That shouldn't change, imo.

Commented on 2007-05-12 00:37:22 In reply to Viginti_TresMaking a game that feels different isn't more difficult or time consuming, it would just require a desire to make it that way.
I can sort of understand why they want this to be the same what with it being the final game in the "trilogy", but for that very same reason they shouldn't pull their punches!
Look at Half Life and compare that to Half Life 2. Perhaps not an entirely fair comparison in regards to halo, but nevertheless the reason HL2 is so awesome is largely because Valve weren't satisfied with just making the same game again. It's not that doing so would require less effort (less thinking maybe) because I have no doubt that producing a version of HL1 that lives up to today's standards of texture and geometry work would be a huge undertaking even if the animations were identical.
Neither do I doubt for a second the work Bungie has put into this game. So I wouldn't say that expectations are too high, I just think people expected something different.
I'm not sure I did, personally. I think my problem is that I hoped.
(again with the disclaimer that solo might be different though)
