Xbox 360

As promised, here is the first video from the beta of Halo 3, in 720p but shorter version so the size was acceptable. The full video in 640x360 will be online in about 30 minutes. More videos will of course follow.
Worth mentioning, the awesome performance of Snoopers, our own Benny Hill.
Update 1: Complete version in 640x360 available, as a stream too.
Update 2: Second video in 720p short version online!
Update 3: Long version 640x360 of the second video.
Update 4: Let's be done for tonight with this last 720p video.
Update 5: Some people asked for it, so there is the title screen and its music.
Update 6: As expected, here is the complete version of the first video in 720p resolution.
Update 7: This time I'm really done with this news. Enjoy the second video in full 720p glory.

I believe he mentioned that some of the water features he was talking about is not even in this beta.

Anyway I'm bored of educating people :P I think the multiplayer looks great, typical Halo style with some excellent next-gen upgrades.

halo 2's MP did not look worse then its SP, anyway why cant they make the MP look as good as the SP? is the netcode giving a huge load on the CPU or something?
Err, no because Halo 3 MP will be playable with upto 4 players via splitscreen. That means rendering 4 diffrent screens at the same time unlike SP. There are additional things to calculate, I won't go into detail.

And if you really didn't notice the diffrence in Halo 2 SP/MP you need to get your eyes checked. Most shooters look worse in MP mode, GoW is an exception. RS6 looks very good in SP but it has, imo, a buttugly MP.

Yeah he did

also, didn't he mention that not all the maps are up to date? I believe the Snow Level is the most up to date out of the bunch. Which is why it looks the most polished out of the 3.

i read them but so far i havent seen any proof that its that great as frank wants us to believe, he also said that the MP water was very good but even that is a bit of a disapointment. anyway i guess the e3 trailer hyped me to much, was hoping the MP was looking atleast that good (and it should have, most ppl play more MP then single player once the finished it on legendary, aleast i did.)
you are basing these things off of SCREENS from a BETA..

/end argument

Well I agree to an extent. Just because the lighting and textures is better doesn't mean it DOESN'T look exactly like Halo 2. I mean you can do side by side comparisons all you want and spot differences but when it comes down to it it all animates exactly the same, you've got exactly the same "blocky" landscapes with the same boulders of rock and essentially the same ragdoll deaths.

People were annoyed that Double Agent "looked exactly like Chaos Theory", but the improvements in that game were identical to the improvements in this - somehow people seem to overlook the similarities between this and Halo 2 for some reason. Do we cut FPS' special slack?

Still though, there's hope that multi is deliberately held back. Apparently Bungie themselves implied something to that effect.

I must admit I do feel a bit depressed.. I really hoped it would have an entirely new and fresh feel to it, just as I did with Double Agent.

Listen Halo 3 beta is run on the halo 2 engine so that explains the low quality bungie is just showing what it will be again remember its just the beta it will get better don't worry

Well I don't know one could say hardcore halo fans want more of the same only better for halo 3 multiplayer.

Singleplayer is where I think they can afford to take risks and go crazy. Does it really run on Halo 2 engine? I may have read that somewhere, but it slips my mind.

i agree. It looks good enough for MP. but what disappoints me is like you say, the animation, but also death sounds, last gen ragdoll animation, halo 1 weapon bobble.

sure it looks fun, but how much more fun than Halo 2.

Too many weapons (inc deployables) IMO could potentially take away from rather than improve gameplay.

I'm sorry but this game looks awesome. I loved the mongoose part as well. I'm not going to be in the beta but I can't wait until Bungie announces what they have learned from holding it.

Well Simon, I guess that's what a lot of people will think when they watch the Beta. The expectations in my opinion are just way too high in the first place.

I myself never expected a graphical revelation, and am quite satisfied by the MP. Altho I can't deny whishing for some improvements too, especially the colorpallete and the lightning, they just look very uninspired from an artistical point of view.

What I'm most concerned about are the maps. My favorites from Halo 2 are Lockout and Midship. I just don't like the vastnes of Blood Gulch, can't imagine why this map is so popular. Weapons never made that game complex, it were the maps. That shouldn't change, imo.

almost all games downscale the graphics for mulitplayer. whoever said Halo2 did not, must either have a bad television, or bad vision.

Spot on.. expectations are unbelievable. And I would also like to see some smaller maps as well. I think over hyping the difference between the two modes is going to disappoint some people.. this isn't GRAW we're talking about. The difference won't be as pronounced imo. But I guess we'll see.

the graphics look next gen to me, as someone mentioned, Single player aspect looks way better than Multiplayer graphics with the eception of GoW of course, but then again different engines are being used. Halo 3 already looks amazing to me, i can't wait for single player footage.

I dunno if they were too high. I don't think that's the right word for them really.

Making a game that feels different isn't more difficult or time consuming, it would just require a desire to make it that way.

I can sort of understand why they want this to be the same what with it being the final game in the "trilogy", but for that very same reason they shouldn't pull their punches!

Look at Half Life and compare that to Half Life 2. Perhaps not an entirely fair comparison in regards to halo, but nevertheless the reason HL2 is so awesome is largely because Valve weren't satisfied with just making the same game again. It's not that doing so would require less effort (less thinking maybe) because I have no doubt that producing a version of HL1 that lives up to today's standards of texture and geometry work would be a huge undertaking even if the animations were identical.

Neither do I doubt for a second the work Bungie has put into this game. So I wouldn't say that expectations are too high, I just think people expected something different.

I'm not sure I did, personally. I think my problem is that I hoped.

(again with the disclaimer that solo might be different though)

Look at the time difference between Half Life 1 and Half Life 2! Almost as much as between Halo ONE and Halo 3!
