I don't expect halo 3 to impress people in the fashion they expect. Like Gears of War. I expect the amount of stuff going on and the epic environments will be what impresses people.
I thought people realised this ages ago?
anyway, game looks fun. Can't wait to play the Beta next week.
At any rate the texture quality, character models and lighting all match the trailer so that's good, thank the maker Bungie included the movie editor, now we'll be able to capture some good pics for the inevitable comparisons.
You're giving them too much credit
I advise people to go and READ the Bungie.net weekly updates.
The E3 Announcement was showing the SINGLE player.

Why would MP look half as good as SP? the only game i know that has worse graphics in MP then in SP is RB6: vegas.
These images look decidedly Halo-y in a way that just doesn't tickle my interest, and since they're multiplayer maps I reckon I shouldn't expect them to be all that different. Still, multiplayer maps have traditionally been based on bits of the campaign, and the lack of new art direction here and the re-use of super familiar textures and objects is worrying.
I hope the campaign takes you places that are of vastly greater interest than the re-run that was Halo 2, because draping essentially the same environments in higher resolution textures and lighting models isn't gonna cut it.
And the first 2 Halo games.
Games like GoW have the same graphics in MP as in SP so why wouldnt halo 3?
If you had paid attention to the Bungie updates you would know how much additional work is going into the visuals for the singleplayer.
halo 2's MP did not look worse then its SP,
Single

Multi

...but it's there.
Multi needs to be built around 4 player split-screen, campaign only 2 play split-screen, likewise Campaign needs to continually stream the level and handle AI whereas multi-player does not.
*Edit - And they're built by different teams too.
Different iterations of the engine for a start.
