Xbox 360 PS3

For this new GSD, enjoy an exclusive interview of Jade Raymond, producer of Assassin's Creed we had the pleasure to meet during the Ubidays. Frankly, we were afraid nothing would come out of this little talk as the game is still under high secrecy, but Jade didn't hesitate to reveal a ton of new details about Assassin's Creed in this twelve minutes long video interview we're offering you today.

Really?

Oh the irony....
Maybe if you start saying what you've got to say, like "I work on Assassin's Creed and I can assure you she doesn't know shit when she says xxx" or "I'm a producer myself and you're totally wrong", we can discuss properly. But so far, you just "assume" things you take for granted and bash Jade just because of her title. I really don't think you're in a position where you can afford sarcasm...

She worked as a programmer at Sony a couple of years ago so she knows about DEVELOPING video games and did it herself. For my part I honestly don´t believe that a bunch of programmers would ever get a game together without a producer leading the project, allocating and overlooking the tasks, giving timelines, talking to the company directors/press, managing the production budget etc. The producer is actually involved in all aspects of the project so she probably knows more about the game than anyone else on the team.

dluv81 that's true.... but she's just another producer... and they can't work without the rest of the team...

BTW you got a link to a source that shows her programing skills?

@snoopers

You were the one who immediately jumped on my post and it's pretty darn clear you didn't read my post thourougly. The only source I can go with is all the interviews i've seen and ubisoft forums. And why should I add anything?? According to YOU i'm "talking out of my ass".

uh huh... ..what?

@Driftwood & Brandino

Well said guys...

"Raymond is a producer nothing more nothing less.... "Acting" like you know tons of stuff doesnt mean that's actually the truth.."

"Imagine being a lead programmer or dev for some project.. working your ass off to suddently see a friggin producer talking like he/she/it coded the project on their own...."

Seems pretty clear to me.

And I can see I'm goddamn right ! Where is Jade talking like "she coded the game", and what do you know of the relationship between the producer and a team ? Anyway, a producer is valuable to listen when he/she has something interesting to say about the game, especially when you ask questions about game design but also art direction, inspirations, collaborations, script and background etc. I just don't get how in the world it could be a bad thing, especially when it's a producer as involved and passionnate as Jade Raymond.

Producers have a lot of say in what goes on in a game. If the producer says, "Do this that way" then you better be sure the developers do it that way. Most of the people who are in front of the camera are either reps or producers/directors of the games since they oversee every aspect of the game. It wouldn't make sense to ask say the lead programmer of a certain aspect of the game because they would only be able to give you limited insight of the game.

Also as a producer she very well could have brought the idea for the game to ubisoft herself. Many producers become such because they want to make their vision happen, but lack the necessary tools (writers, programmers, etc) to do so. So before you jump the gun and say, "She's just a producer" you need to find out why she's a producer.

She's as involved as it gets but Assassin's Creed has been created by Yanis Mallat, the guy behind Pop: Sands of Time (oh and fun fact about this: his title back then was... Producer).

I think skybox is flipping out about people thinking she's a dev because in one of my posts i said "jade and her team". Was i wrong in including her with all the efforts of the actual dev team?

I'm so looking forward to this game. I love the crusades theme mixed with the assassin theme. The gameplay itself looks pretty hi-qual too.
The overlays/filters you use in your videos rock pretty much! It's kinda GoW style :)
By the way, Ms. Raymond could be a perfect Lara Croft model don't you think so?

Nice for her to do the interview, and even be so insightfull about the game - revealing new things. Best thing so far. And yes, she is hot but that is only a plus - as she acts like a real professional. Great interview.

One more month till we see more gameplay footage.....I hope they play the ps3 version at E3. I know that its been a year since they debuted the 360 version, so any framerate improvements would most likely be due to progress on the game, but im curious to see how the ps3 version is coming along.

She is so hot it's sick, and she is smart...and makes good games, and seems genuinely nice. Man, there should be rules against this...or even better, more women like her.
Oh so it's not just me then..........

Anyway, Assassin's Creed looks to have much potential.

@ Snoopers :

Yannis mallat isn't the creator of Assassin's Creed, it's Patrice Desilets.
And Patrice Desilets was also the director of POP sands of time. Yannis Mallat was "just" the producer.
