Xbox 360 PS3

For this new GSD, enjoy an exclusive interview of Jade Raymond, producer of Assassin's Creed we had the pleasure to meet during the Ubidays. Frankly, we were afraid nothing would come out of this little talk as the game is still under high secrecy, but Jade didn't hesitate to reveal a ton of new details about Assassin's Creed in this twelve minutes long video interview we're offering you today.

"[speaking french].....throwing knives....[speaking french again]"

That made me laugh. Pretty interesting interview I thought. Not sure how I feel about the whole Metroid Prime thing of starting out with all your gear, losing it, and spending the game getting it back. That's not a gameplay decision I have ever wanted to see copied, as I think it's rather tedious personally. I was glad to hear there will be more to the game than "this is your target: kill him and escape" like the pick-pocket mini game, ect. Did she imply there will be more such mini games that further the game and mix up the gameplay more? Also, did you guys try prodding her (no innuendo, I swear) on the subject of the time travel/virtual reality/psych patient/whatever rumor that leaked a while ago? I'm curious how that's going to fit into the game when she has specifically said since that it isn't time travel.

In the 1up interview they had with her they asked about about the virtual reality/time travel thing, and she said that more will be said about it at a later date, probably E3 im guessing. I personally think its a biological, extracting memory from the cells of a decendant of the assassin type situation.

I get the feeling that Jade divulged more info about the game than she had originally intended to! I was wondering, has there been any word on the Limited Edition pre-order availability...?

No, no, no... You should consider yourself lucky that XY is translated in English. :)

There may be more English members but the French community is more active by far though it doesn't have anything to do with the fact that the shows are in French, obviously. As Snoop and Blim already explained, we are French so the natural thing for us is to speak French, not English no matter how international the language is. For once you guys have to deal with subtitles you shouldn't complain.

Among all the ign-gamespot-GT-etc sites I think it's great XY has its own style & the fact that it's a French site is part of it. The job that's been done here for years by Blim² & Snoop is incredible and & I think it's something to be proud of. No reason to forget our French for that matter.

Now sorry if it puts you off so much but it's usually how the French feel about English you know: so you get to see how it feels to be in French-people-who-don't-know-squat-about-english's shoes. ;)

Yup, Xboxyde has continuously delivered superior quality content for a long time now. Yea sure I'm English and would prefer if the site was that way, but I always come to this site due to the effort put into everything they do, makes me not mind reading subtitles. I really have a lot of respect for the guys that run the site and put time and effort into not only delivering content in HD, but working to get amazing interviews and content for their show gamersyde.

I'm always surprised at how accurate and consistent the translations are from French to English, I sometimes forget that you guys are french at all, until I watch a new episode of gamersyde :P

Considering French is the mother tongue of the interviewers and Jade grew up in Montreal, which means despite being Anglo-Canadian French must be like her second mother tongue, to do the interview in French was fine and comprehensible although reading subtitles can definitely distract from what is happening on the screen. But vice versa in this case, when there is a beautiful young lady on it you forget that there are any subtitles at all and just listen :D

BTW I´m really impressed with Jade Raymond. When I first saw a pic of her and read that she was the producer of a AAA Ubisoft title I thought she was chosen to promote the game with her exterior qualities as there really are hardly any handsome persons in the gaming industry. But those interviews really show that she knows what´s she doing and that she is really involved as the actual producer in the developing process and that she is deservedly in charge of such an important title for Ubisoft.

It can be rather tricky to switch from one language to another like she does. She probably had a speech or another interview in english minuts before that. :)

Living in a mixed country (Belgium, where I have to speak French and Dutch almost everyday), I can tell you it's incredibly exhausting to constantly change the way you talk, and you might have words popping in the wrong language (especially if you use that word more often in one language actually).

As far as I know, Jade is english spoken, but as she use to live in Montréal (for the one who asked earlier, a quite large part of Canada "Québec" is french spoken, yet it's not the majority of the country), she has a "close-to-perfect" french.

To get back on topic : the game looks really interesting, and certainly original, I can't wait for it.

Haha..switching from French to Dutch must indeed be very challenging. It´s hard to think of two languages that differ more in the way they sound.

French sounds like music and Dutch like a mumbled mix of German and English (no offending, for a German it sounds that way)

It's also good to hear whenever a developer talks about their game with such enthusiasm as Jade Raymond does here.

*sigh*

Since WHEN is a friggin PRODUCER more valueable to listen to then say the ACTUAL devs or the creators?

Raymond is a producer nothing more nothing less.... "Acting" like you know tons of stuff doesnt mean that's actually the truth.. however ubisoft sure is a smart company, they have one of the worst community supports out there,, but now they managed to find a sort of cute women who also managed to convience the local teens she's the vice president of ubisoft or w/e

Imagine being a lead programmer or dev for some project.. working your ass off to suddently see a friggin producer talking like he/she/it coded the project on their own....

P.S BTW if you think's she's THAT hot.. you need to get out more often or get better looking girl friends

What the f' are you talking about ! She's not the vice president of ubisoft, she's the producer of the game, meaning she overviews the team and every aspect of the game. And she works closely with Yannis Mallat, who is the lead designer / creator of Assassin's Creed. You may be used to see useless producers ala EA & co, but don't think a producer means nothing in the creation process of a videogame. For exemple, the (executive) producer is a key element during the making of a movie, and it's just about the same here.

And of course we would have loved to interview the lead designer of AC, but Jade is the only person communicating on the game by now. Deal with it.

no.. WTF are you talkin about?

I never said she was the VICE PRESIDENT in the first place <-- she just acts like it

And I wasn't flaming xboxyde for showing this interview either.. I'm just saying it's pretty common they all misstake a simple producer vs a dev....

I don't care how closely she "works" with anyone.. she's still a producer the last time i checked... you seriously need to re-read my post... the reason why I posted in the first place was because i'm tired of seeing the usual "gREAT she's hot ..very talented developer"

I think everybody's aware that she's not a developer, and I don't see how in hell she "managed to convince she's the vice president of ubisoft or w/e", you're totally talking out of you ass here. Anyway, you should collect some infos on what really is the work of a producer in the game / cinema industry. She communicating about the game to the press is absolutely relevant, and more importantly she knows what she's talking about.

If "everbody" would be aware she was just a producer i wouldn't have bothered to write a post in the first place... btw i'm a forum poster over at ubisoft forums as well and you just need to look a few posts above to see someone still think's she's a dev... even on xboxyde.

Thank you knight in shining armor for correcting such an awful mistake... Thou shalt be blessed for thy dedication to the cause of justice. :p

Anyway, the point here is that she gave you information about the game that you hadn't heard of before. And that's really what communication is all about.
