Xbox 360

Bioware releases fourteen images of Mass Effect, as awesome looking as ever. You may have already seen some of them, but never in 720p. You can now enjoy the beauty in all its HD glory. We hope Microsoft will unveil the game's release date during this summer's E3.

Yee have little faith
meh, doubters.....let'em whine, that's what they do best, or really that's ALL THEY DO.

And they are most certainly entitled to their opinion. And they don't have to buy the game if they're that dissappointed with what they've seen so far.

But I have a feeling that this is what THEY WILL BE DOING for the rest of this gaming generation. While the rest of us will enjoy playing these games, they will still be whining about the quality of screen grabs and jaggies in high res pics. LOL!

And I'm not defending Bioware either, Mass Effect's graphics don't need to be defended anymore. Bioware has gone on record and in their forums several times about how the graphics are not down graded, that as they release pics to us they are showing us various builds of the game.

Some of the pics will have post processing and others won't based on where that part of the game is at in the development process.

And I honestly hope Bioware doesn't feel the need to mention this yet again. Let the doubters stay in the dark. Bioware shouldn't have to make a PR statement everytime they release a few pics from the latest graphical build.

lol calm down sath...

I'm so tied of the same old same old, that i no longer comment on such downgrade quotes, when the game release and i'm playing it in HD glory and laughing at such quotes all will be well...

Ya know.. it can just be an observation. Lots of games do wind up cutting features, including graphical features, before they're released. This generation we've seen it happen to Oblivion already and most notably, but if you search hard enough you will probably find that is not the only example..

Hell.. last generation we saw it happen with Halo 2. It doesn't mean that we're not going to play the game or enjoy it, just because we noticed. Are we just supposed to ignore these things?

For what it's worth, I don't know what the status of self shadows are in this title. Some of these screen shots obviously have them, and others just don't. I guess we'll find out more around E3 when they're forced to show this off in its full glory to the press.

Hopefully we'll see some footage then.. which will be great.. then flaws in the games light model will be even more identifiable! ;)

Im going to have to now agree with LEBATO! The graphics have been not been up to par with that video they showed awhile back with the alien bartender.

Here is the new one.

Ambient and specular lighting can change the exact same scene from a drab uninteresting picture to a stunning scene with a lot of depth. It's even more drastic if you DON'T have the exact same scene as in those two pictures. The second pic shows a spotlight of some sort giving a glow to the characters which would make them have more "real and detailed", whereas the other pic is only lit by ambient lighting where texture will look dull and gray.

So unless if you have proof from Bioware or can grab two identical pictures with different quality you or Lebato really have no idea what you're talking about.

Many of the screen shots are taken from different builds of the game and different parts that dont have that 'polished' touch we all love. I remember hearing one of the devs say that the graphics will be at least as good as the X06 demo. Also I think I heard that all the screen shots are in-game. Sorry, memory's not that good.

(Chris) Your memory is just fine and all that was accurate.

dcdelgado I was really hoping that Priestly or anybody else over there wouldn't have felt the need to say anything else regarding screenshots. They have stated the same thing over and over again that people must honestly either be slow or brain dead not to have gotten it by now.

But Priestly and the devs over at Bioware have sooooooooooo much patience with the whining doubters who drop in on the ME forums, definitely more than I would show them.

But I just had a funny thought. What would happen if Bioware released raw, unpolished footage? These folks might give birth to a cow!

I agree 110%!!

But i really have no problem with thoes that question the screenshots that they feel look worse than other screenshots they have loved in the past, it thoes guys that you ONLY see rear there ugly head when they have something negative to say, then dissapear and say nothing when they see exceptional screenshots and footage :/ (Haters you gotta luv-em!!)

I'm more impressed with the fact that a game of that scale and they are fitting it into a DVD9...
Wait, now that I think about it, have they confirmed that it will fit into a DVD9 only?

I'm getting tired of them making excuses personally, and I really don't believe it much anymore. If they release screenshots, optimize them. It saves a lot of explaining time, and it doesn't hurt to be on the same page...If thats even the case. Sounds more like damage control. Still, it doesn't look bad by any stretch.

You are part right. There really isn't anything wrong with people commenting on screenshots that they feel look worse than previous ones. I agree that except for the first two pics, the rest are pretty bland looking and definitely don't compare to the bar shot already posted.

Just because someone only posts when they have something negative to say, doesn't necessarily make them a hater. When everyone's raving about what some people might see as unimpressive pics, someone should step up and speak their mind...it can create a dialogue. If, eventually, they do agree that something looks good, why bother mentioning it when it will just get lost in a sea of other "Looks good!" posts?

Also, I dunno if it was a typo...but THOSE > thoes.

It all depends how the person presents himself. Lebato wasn't like "dis game looks lik n00b shit!!1!" regarding amazing looking screenshots. He simply and calmly expressed sentiments that I agree with that after pic 2, the rest look pretty ho-hum. It really didn't seem like he was just trying to piss people off.
