My god, why did they photoshop the hands?

this genre is getting old and funking boring i dunno why you guys expected GTAIV to look good cuz the others didnt look good so im not surprised at the graphics.

Fugly.

They expected it to look good because the first trailer looked good. And it may still despite these screens. Games are a work in progress, they go through their ups and downs. I wish people would stop overreacting every time some lackluster media comes out.........

huh , i dont really have words to ... i just.. , come on this looks worse than the trailer , the trailer was amazing.

The trailer was "OK", nothing in there that screamed "OMG how did they do that!!!"... And yes, that hand looks photoshopped, OR its the return of the classic GTA blockhand and the fingers are just painted on with a very blurry texture... Anyone who is expecting to see groundbreaking graphics is just setting themselfs up for dissapointment given the genre and the history of the game...

Looks good for a GTA game

Haven't we learned anything yet? Games especially these next gen titles tend to look much better in motion so don't mind a couple screens that don't live up to your lofty expectations.

Why no need to worry? Since when does gameplay look better than the cutscenes? These pics are pretty disappointing.

Sure GTA isn't known for good graphics, but to me it IS known for not having solid or at least fun gameplay (excluding the first one in 5 minute demo form).

As usual we're letting speculation get the better of us. A hundred great looking screenies, and two shoddy ones flip us on our heads. Just wait 4 the trailer and lets see whats popping.

wow you guys are waaay to picky. this game has a huge map to roam around and you all expect the game to be the best looking 360/PS3 game ever. This game already looks better then Saints Row and Crackdown and its not even 3/4ths done yet. Only thing i can see thats is wrong with pic 1 is his fingers look glued together and the pedestrian models dont look that good but the main character and car models look great. pic 2, i see nothing wrong with that one, looks awesome. just think about it, this game can have such a wide open area to roam around unlike most games and already looks better then most 360 games out now.

oh and his hands might look like that because they have to put the hands attached to the steering wheel. if you look at all past pictures of the main character his hands dont look like that. its probably just like that when you drive, but since you wont be paying much attention to the detail of your character when you're driving there isnt that much of a big deal with it.

Since GTA 3? That was probably the most visually stunning game on the PS2 when it was first seen. I mean, really - why do some people talk so much sh*t for? It's unreal. Vice City looked class aesthically, and GTA 4 will be no different to the trend. It will be the overall look and feel on the screen that will be mind-blowing to look at.

Not everyone is screaming downgrade, but that doesn't mean people aren't allowed to be critical of disappointing screenshots when they're released. What is the appropriate response to ugly pics? "Well....I've seen good screenshots of this game before, so these otherwise ugly screenshots are therefore not ugly!"

The second one looks okay...

Erm...

MGS2 and FFX surpassed GTA visuals and they came out around the same time. Then time went on and the GTA engine aged horribly. By the time Vice City came out...Fugly.

Yeah, sure, people can be critical of bad screenshots. But to flip into some sort of panicked tailspin when a couple ugly images show up, even though there have been many other beautiful ones is just dumb. And inevitably the game gets released and golly gee, if it doesn't look great. See for example: Oblivion, GRAW, DiRT, etc, etc, etc..

True. It's not the graphics that are fugly... it's the main character who's fugly.

..you(and these other posts) just reminded me of the huge ''MassEffect downgrade'' fiasco from a while back. lol.

well, that looks fugly, but so did the trailer and other screenshots, but the scale of the game makes up for it, only if the framerate is any good tho.... judging by GTA track record, im wary ¬_¬ GTA has never looked good, and has always had iffy framerate, maybe they'll get that right this time

all of course null and void if the gameplay is unchanged, same old boring stuff, lets hope not, variety please, GTA:SA was crap

Main guy looks fugly. And his hands look so fake, too. I knew the first trailer didn't look all that good. The new one better be good. These pics are just low quality, definitely. I wish they didn't have to lower the texture resolution to meet the PS3's lower main and video ram sizes. dang. Ahh well. I'm sure the gameplay will be "next-gen"
