The very kind nvgvrez sent us these scans from the latest Famitsu Weekly, released today in Japan. They are actually showing some new stuff in there, and if I'm not misstaken, the very first image of the map Epitaf.

If you read the books you'd realize how retarded you sound. Normally the Covenant just glass a planet completely if it's of no value, however there have been many examples where they were looking for relics on the planet and send teams down to investigate, why would you blow up an area when you think it holds the key to the holy grail? All information points to the Ark being in Africa, so why would they destroy the area if they are going to want to activate it?

Adding new equipment to the game changes the gameplay entirely, have you not played the beta? Adding new armor types can change the way to play also, if it affects the game as much as bungie is hinting about (not much has been said so far other than images of the armor etc).
With the 'Forge' you can change and place objects in a map, like in the scans you can see a tank in the air, along with a monitor and some boxes, you could create cover with boxes or do whatever else your heart desires, I think that changes the maps dynamics considerably.
Also, Halo 2 added duel wielding, which changed the game up a lot, how is that just an expansion?

Equipment and the support weapons I guess you could call new gameplay elements. Even still there's really not too much to add to Halo's gameplay that wouldn't be out of place.

Equipment definitely adds a new layer of gameplay.. a much needed new layer of gameplay too if you ask me.

I'll make one- Halo 1.5.
And I watched the videos and even played the BETA.
After Halo1 this series never excited me.
They keep releasing expansion packs with no new gameplay elements.
