Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)

Commented on 2007-08-12 21:04:30 In reply to JediMasterMalikJediMasterMalik, I've read all about Killzone2's game engine so no need to bring up the deferred composition or it's post processing (dof, bloom, motion blur ILR etc).
Even though Guerrilla Games' Michal Valient says differently, IMO Guerrilla would have only employed a deferred renderer if they absolutely needed to drop HDR for performance. This isn't a bad thing at all if Guerrilla has actually found the appropriate work arounds when employing a deferred renderer.
But the fact that they are utilizing deferred rendering leads me to believe that Killzone's texture complexity is going to be down played for low key lighting effects.
Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not making a big deal about this. Dropping HDR isn't the end of world, as long as the game looks good then even the most healthy debate about HDR vs the benefits of deferred rendering becomes academic.
But you couldn't drop HDR or texture complexity for a game like Halo3. Many of it's game environments take place right under the blazing sun.
This is what I meant when I said that Killzone doesn't have the same range of visual fidelity. I was fully aware that Killzone's dark and oppressive look was apart of it's graphics profile. But when a game is that dark, you can modify many visual elements to enhance performance.
