Xbox 360

Here are the five first minutes of the Bioshock demo, which shows your first steps in Rapture, the underwater city. As the level is quite long, I thought that it would be better to stick with a short glimpse, but if you want me to record the all thing, don't hesitate to ask.
Update: 46 images of the demo added.
Update 2: Video part 2 added !

at one point in the demo youre in a small room with the elevators where part of the glass roofing breaks open and water begins to spill in,....and you can stand there and watch as the water fills the room up to a couple feet....i just thought that was amazing...

I wash i had a xbox360 to play this game, it looks absolutely awesome, graphics are high quality and the game runs smoothly without tearing or framerate drops, art direction is superb, and it looks like the gameplay is very interesting too because of the mixture of plasmids with conventional weapons, and the story looks also to be very interesting and well made, besides i think it will last at least 20 hours to complete it, im sure this game will become game of the year 2007, cant wait to see more videos of the demo, can you upload them please?

Best game on the 360, bar none, and EASILY better than anything on PS3. I can't believe I wrote Bioshock off as another shooter. Playing the demo, I had goosebumps the entire time. In one minute I went from "not even gonna rent it" to "buying it day-one." The only game that could rival this in terms of innovation and overall greatness is MGS4. MAYBE Assassin's Creed.

It definitely is a creepy game. I had quite a few "Oh ****!" moments. There's a screenshot of a woman standing over a baby stroller - um, that part was weird. I advise everyone who plays the demo to take your time with it. There's some extra bits of story that you can uncover if you just stop and look around.

Funny thing about the opening sequence. When the plane crashed, and the character is in the water, I was just waiting for something to happen because I thought it was all a CG cutscene.

1UP did a preview on it, they played thru the whole full game already.. They said if you totally rushed thru the game without paying attention to anything going on it will still take you a minimum of 12 hours orso.. And if you play the game like it should be played it will be at least 20 hours of gameplay.. So yeah, you were spot on with that guess..

Also replayability is pretty big as you can get thru the game in multiple different ways.. You could rush like a DM Rambo freak on crack, or play like it is a Splinter Cell stealth game, or anything in between with all the different weapons, powers, and hacking you can use.. Also they said there were multiple endings depending on how you played the game..

So yeah, pretty good value for money I think, even for a SP-only game..

A few brilliant moments I had in the demo.. 1st one was when I shot the guy downstairs where you get the gun for the 1st time who was knocking on a closed door, and blew his mask off.. He was looking up at me like 'wtf, who shot me?'.. Then I shot him again and killed him.. 2nd cool moment was when I set 2 enemies on fire, then they ran towards and dove into a pool of water to extinguish themself, and then I zapped the water with electricity to kill them.. Also cool was hacking into one of those flying security bots, which them starts following you to protect you..

It's moments like these that make you really, really wish that a sequel is being made as we speak.. I loved Systemshock but this... aloha baby, this is on completely different scale ^^ Any game that makes me just wanna stop in my track and take a look at the environment, the artwork, the details put into a scene, is definately worth getting excited over :) Collectors Edition ftw!

The moment you come out of the water looks soo good i thought it was CGI of some sort, its so good looking its unreal (no pun here) and once again the gameplay is cool, a must for anyone with a 360

Well, the demo is amazing... Graphically (i also stood still in the water waiting for something to happen until i realized it was already in-game), in terms of gameplay, the sounds, the music... The hacking mini-game is funny and i´m sure it will get increasingly harder as the game progresses. The framerate is, as said, adamant solid... It already looked good to me, but now the only game i think may overcome Bioshock this season is Mass effect but, being so different i think they could easily come to be named `Game of the Year´ ex aequo.

Its not even UE3 from what I understood, it's an in-house upgraded UT2K3 engine :O

Not a single slowdown.. it's just stupidly solid in the framerate.

Eat that Silicon Knights.

"Known at first as the Vengeance engine 2, this was an enhanced version of the Vengeance engine, based on the Unreal Engine 2.5. As this engine was developed for the game Bioshock, the engine has become known as the "BioShock engine". Later, the BioShock engine was changed to use the Unreal Engine 3.0. but BioShock does not use all of Unreal Engine 3.0's features. As it only upgraded the Unreal Engine 3.0's Unreal Core System, file system framework and UnrealEd Toolsets."

From that you might think that its not exactly UE3 in the same way as Gears, but as long as the core engine (esp renderer) is from UE3 then it makes little difference.

Didnt really notice much effects amiss, aside from parallax mapping (brick walls, bullet holes etc)?

The demo was pretty fantastic. I went back and gathered a little flying turret army! At one point I had 4 flying turrets following me around (I think I could have gotten more, not sure). They kept bumping into each other and making cute little r2d2-like noises (but with more of a kazoo-sound hehe). With some effort I was able to take them with me through all of the rubble to the end of the demo.

I cannot wait for release...
