After the excellent surprise we had with SKATE we are not really surprised to see that the developers at Neversoft finally have stepped up a bit and moved their series forward. Of course the core gameplay is still there, but there certainly seems to be quite a lot of new stuff too, like you'll be able to see by yourself with this pretty nice video of Tony Hawk Proving Ground.

the series is getting stale but still, that looks way more fun then the skate demo was.

I like skate way better than tony hawk. Skate is a bit more realistic.

hmm not my cup of tea any more. After playing Skate the appeal of the Hawk games has just gone downhill for me.
Granted I like the idea of putting ramps 'n stuff anywhere and expanding the skate-abilty of a spot but its not enough to put me off Skate.
One thing I would like for Skate to borrow from the Hawk games is the ability to get off your board and reach places that would have been impossible if you were on your plank.
If you like a more realistic skateboarding game then Skate is for you.
If you like your skateboarding games arcadey then Tony Hawks is for you!
If you have muchos cash flow then buy both!
If you don't like skateboarding games then avoid both like the plague!
simple ^_^

hawk and skate are two different worlds, both of which i love and appreciate. gotta love the arcadey, action-packed feeling of tony hawk, and at the same time the realism and immersion of skate.

I think in skate, you should be able to get off the board. i know it's minor, but sometimes, i'd rather walk to where i want to begin my next trick than try to roll there....they are two totally different games though. i'd play skate for hours, and THPS when i want a quick fix...

stake was a little too technical using the right stick. i prefer tony hawk's button pressing.

The more I play the skate demo the more I love it. Conversely, the more I play the Tony Hawk series the more loathsome it becomes. Skate was a little awkward at first but once you get into it become incredibly satisfying.
To put it simply, Tony Hawk's killed skating games for me and skate brought me back in.
