GSY Video PC PS4 Xbox One

Now that we can record compressed 4K/HDR videos with our newly aquired Shogun Inferno, we had to make sure lossless capture would finally be possible with Amarec. We installed a faster SSD and it did the trick, as proven by the following videos. To show you that Gamersyde is now perfectly ready to reach new horizons, what better games than Forza Horizon 3 running at 60 fps on PC (ultra settings but no MSAA) and Horizon: Zero Dawn running at 30 fps on PS4 Pro.
Update: We've just added a video of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.
Update 2: A small taste of Alan Wake in 4K.

Congratulations!

Btw, do you guys plan on doing more Gamersyde/GSY Retro articles? I believe it would be even more relevant now more than ever since you could revisit some great games in 4K. Where they could look even better than before. As well as bring more attention to them.

I know you guys are always busy, but it would be nice if you guys could do it every 1-2 weeks. Plus you could involve the community and make a poll to see which games the majority would like to see. Or you guys could just show games you guys love and think would look great in 4K.

The idea came to me because there's so much focus on new games that we often forget older games. Some would definitely benefit to the jump in 4K - like Metro: Last Light. Also, it will be something to help add more content to the site in the next 2 months, which don't have as many high profile releases.

I´m sure this is absolutely lovely..for you guys that can play them. For some reason your 4k-streams lag intensively for me. An overclocked i5, a gtx780 and 250mbit should be enough, right? It´s the same problem with the downloaded files btw. 4k is never an issue from other sources. Any ideas?

Have you tried to play the downloaded files with the Win10 movie app? Also, you could try Media Player Classic with MadVR. A GTX 780 might not be enough for 4K/60fps, especially with high bitrate.

It works perfectly on my core I7 with a 770, using madvr or the windows 10 media app.

I'm actually quite baffled that some of you can't play Gamersyde's 4K videos. I seriously am. To put into perspective, with my very old PC - 8 years old - with a Core 2 Quad Q6700, GT 9800 1GB and 4GB RAM can still run Gamersyde's 4K videos without any problems.

Even in Mirillis Splash, which actually uses the GPU to make the videos run at 60fps, meaning the stress on the CPU and GPU are even higher, most of Gamersyde's 4K videos still work. And the rare cases that don't work in Mirillis Splash, work just fine in VLC. I believe only 1 video didn't ran well, but that was because of the bitrate, which Gamersyde's 4K videos use 1/4 of that video's bitrate.

I hate to say "it's on your end" as the description to any problem, but in this case it is very fitting. If a shitty 8 year old PC can run Gamersyde's 4K videos without almost any problem, why can't your much more powerful PCs?

From someone who has used over 30 different media players during 2 decades, and has had to configure video and audio codecs hundreds of times, you guys just have to configure your main media player(s) and/or test different ones.

I know it sucks, but the problem is absolutely on all of your PCs and/or media players, not the videos themselves. Also, make sure you don't have heavy applications running in the background consuming your PC's resources, like Anti-Virus, etc. I know it sounds stupid to even mention this, but most people would be surprised the number of times a system is slow because of this.

Also, some software people install with the CD/DVD that comes with the computer like Intel, AMD, ASUS, Gigabyte and other companies' software can consume a lot of resources and slow down your PC.

I don't even use any Anti-Virus, other than Microsoft's Windows Defender and Firefox's security add-ons, as long as you don't visit shady sites and don't install any dubious software on your PC, you will be fine.

BlimBlim and Driftwood. thanks! The missing link for me seemed to be MadVR. Something I never heard about before now. Now every 4k60-file I´ve downloaded flows like butter. Love it!

I'm glad for you. Like I've said before, even very old PCs are able to play 4K videos without much problems. I hope others try Media Player + madVR as well. The best thing about configuring a media player is that after you're done, it works for almost everything, not just 4K videos.

You can also use MP + madVR to make the image quality much better, as well as use SVP to make videos run at 60fps. The better image quality is specially great for CG movies, animes, cartoons and games' videos.

Below is a Reddit thread that you and others might be interested, there's quite a few useful info in the comments:

I used to wonder how you guys manage to capture such high quality videos while running them at almost highest possible settings. I figured you used some awesome SLi configuration. (Never bothered enough with how you captured console videos :P) But this whole Shogun Inferno and Amarec stuff is completely new to me and sounds really impressive. Would love to see your setup, plus any links and/or description with technical details, I love technical details, would be great! Maybe even a walk through video or BTS :D

We have a capture PC, to which we connect the consoles and gaming PC when we need to record videos.

Amarec is the capture software we use on the capture PC. The Shogun Inferno is a device we bought for E3 which allows us to record 4K/HDR compressed videos

Did you download the video?

I ask because I just checked both the stream and download versions in 2160p@60fps, and the stream version does indeed look "flat". But the download version looks great as always.

I always download videos, so I always see Gamersyde's videos in their best possible quality. But for those that just or mainly watch the stream version of videos, it might be best to download them - if possible.

Horizon 3 looks flat cause the PC version does not have HDR support. Because of that I preferred the game at 1080@30 with HDR, alla XboneS, over 4k@60. HDR made the game look that much better.

I agree it looks insane, I wish I had a PS4 Pro. I think we are going to see some rad XB1 X games as well, and the PC games should beef up as well. Can't wait for all three platforms to LvL Up.

Love the 4K vids too they look really good, thanks guys.
