I think it's something of a first, but since it's about Halo 3 nothing can surprise me anymore! So here comes a teaser video for... a TV ad. Still, much thanks to the fine folks of XCN for this!

sorry, guess i got a little annoyed.

i just wish ppl would cheer up here and stop complaining in every thread :)

i thought the ad was fantastic, very origional for a game ad
and most of all, its helping to get gaming out into the world and respected as a good form of art and media.

EDIT: and yes, i know the irony of complaining in every thread about people complaining, so dont point that out LOL

Halo over-hyped, under-hyped, good or mediocre aside.

This is a good bit of marketing.

From the looks of this teaser it will most likely be an ad directed by Neil Blomkamp. At a guess I would say that maybe they will show Master Chief fighting alongside the marines as depicted by the models.

Why isn't the actual game this dramatic? There's waaaaay too much comic relief in Halo to really take it seriously. Marines just crack way too many jokes, they don't really ever appear to acknowledge the fact that you're a legendary super soldier that's so many ranks above them.

lol, you need to watch more war movies. They are just like that, Master Chief is the last of his kind, before there were many so they were common on the battle field.

I think its a great TV ad, it draws you in much deeper into the Halo universe, I guess the world doesn't end unless that didnt take place on Earth.

Ad like this just makes me want the game and a movie all the more.

I dont get the message of this TV ad.

A Museum, ok. An old man/veteran talks from his moments on the battlefield (and maybe of the last moments of MC?). It also looks like the war is over and humans live now peacefully.

But what's with Masterchief....?

Halo is Microsofts main game, of course it's going to be hyped to death, every company has thier 1 game they will pour money into. Heavenly Sword was Sony's, Nintendo well they don't even bother they just make the same crap Mario game after another.

Is Halo 3 really that hyped? I check out joystiq and gamersyde etc. every day and in the end thers not so much sutff about it... A trailer there, documantary here. Anyway imo this ad was just awesome.

I thought that was going to be really cheesy or something- but that was actually really a great commercial! Jeesh- It had the believable angle going as if it was from Band of Brothers or something! hahahaha. Very cool.

Awesome. I prefer these teasers/adverts more than getting screenshots of the game :S

I Know its nice and all that to see what the game will look like -and to see in part what you're paying for- but these adverts are just so damn cool!

Can't believe the release is just around the corner!

Personally, I like this ad a lot. Yes, the 2nd one was hyped way to much and they rushed the shit out of the game, but the 3rd looks to be a massive improvement in terms of story, graphics, glitches and gameplay.

The ad really gives off a sense that something like this could actually happen.

First one was good, but the second was seriously flawed.

I totally agree, I've never caught the bug either. Something about the whole thing just leaves me cold. Maybe its master chief himself, he looks like a reject from warhammer 40,000! Halo3 is without doubt the most overhyped game of the last few years. At E3 they were talking about it as if it was going to be a major cultural milestone. It just isn't. If your looking for something much less pretentious, wait till Call of Duty 4 arrives.

I love this! The idea of the troops idolising the Chief is just brilliant. Brilliant advert. We should have more like this - it really brings it alive!

the only thing wrong with the ad is that there was no music to capture the mood

anything playing in the backround would have better projected the emotions of a veteran soldier visiting a memoriam to fallen comrades

Bungie you get points for capturing atmosphere, but you also lose points for losing the imagination of anyone who views the ad.

this approach may have been a little over the heads of Bungie/Microsoft's marketing depts.

Call of Duty 4 is just a 2 week game and Game Over...... but HALO 3 multiplayer co-op forge etc. is going to rock 2-4 years .... and than HALO 4 WOw

Halo will all ways have something ground breaking... Halo one SP was awesome! and HALO 2 has awesome MP. Halo 3 will have both.....

Remember HALO 2 is still played alot on XBL....

Not only were Spartans common on the battlefield, they are never marked as KIA as to give the illusion that a Spartan never dies. So if a Spartan wasn't on the battlefield then I think the Marines would be a little more focused. However since there is a Spartan on the battlefield, they can relax a little and feel much more secure about the coming battle.

I think the tone was set perfect, music would only ruin the emotion of the Veteran. That advert is amazing.
