I think it's something of a first, but since it's about Halo 3 nothing can surprise me anymore! So here comes a teaser video for... a TV ad. Still, much thanks to the fine folks of XCN for this!

One of the most original and best ads i've seen in awhile, keep up the good work Bungie, don't worry about the haters, 1.5 million PRE-ORDERS and counting!! :)

To be honest, this looks like a continuation of the Neil Blomkamp mini-series.

They are set in the Halo universe and are really just little tests for the full Halo movie, whenever they get funding for it.

Halo 3 was just around the corner when they were making these, so why not turn them to help halo 3 out a bit in terms of advertising? And of course, show off what could be done with the halo movie at the same time.

Its a fairly economical process really.

Anywho, its live action, with pre-rendered CGI (or little models in this case) that give a look into parts of the halo universe you don't usually get to see.

At least they're not doing pre-rendered stuff and trying to pass it off as real gameplay.

it's a really great add and make me want to know more. i just wish the actual single player battles gave me this sort of intense feeling. I think now that the game will take place on Earth, the battles will be more intense (considering there should be many more NPC's on the battle field.

Just because a lot of people play a game, or a lot of people buy a game doesn't make it a great game people. Most mainstream gamers are idiots that have never played a great game so they have nothing to compare the garbage too.

As the saying goes, ignorance is bliss.

Most_hated, that comment would apply if Halo 3 wasn't a great game. But it will be, so! ;D

the only thing wrong with the ad is that there was no music to capture the mood

anything playing in the backround would have better projected the emotions of a veteran soldier visiting a memoriam to fallen comrades

Bungie you get points for capturing atmosphere, but you also lose points for losing the imagination of anyone who views the ad.

this approach may have been a little over the heads of Bungie/Microsoft's marketing depts.
I think having no music was a lot better. It would of been too trite to use music for something like that.

Halo over-hyped, under-hyped, good or mediocre aside.

This is a good bit of marketing.
Precisely. It's expertly done.

Can't wait for the full ad. Halo 2 overrated .... yes. Halo CE overrated ... hell no. Halo 3 looks to be a return to form for Bungie and the Halo franchise. IMO its the true sequel to the original.
