Xbox 360

You may already know it or not, but the full video of Microsoft Pres Conference last week is now available on the Marketplace, and in HD. I will of course capture everything that's worth watching, but it will take a bit of time. So while waiting for the videos here are some captures of the demo of Ninja Gaiden 2 done by the game's directory. It's important to mention that the game runs at 60 fps and the video at 30, so 2 images are blended together into one with not so good results most of the time. So I've selected the one that looks the least bad, I guess.
Update: As promised, here is the video. Many thanks to DjMizuhara for the capture and upload!
Update 2: Video now has sound, sorry about this!

Not impressed to be honest, graphics are good but not the best I've seen, just looks like thier using the ultra violent thing to make this game look better than it is. I'll stick with DMC

For me, DMC and NG offer two completely different gameplay experiences not to warrant investing in both games. They are just too different, I can't play one and compare it to another.

Also I love the scythe. I mean, when was the last time you could use a scyte in a game (that's not an RPG)? Love the dragon sword, or whatever it is he has now, but the scythe is just so appropriate.

I dont know why people are surprised by the graphics. Itagaki has already shown he's unwilling to change the art direction, or look, or style, whichever you prefer, of his games. He showed this with the DOA games.

However, the game still looks good, and it obviously moves well. In the end, the game will be super fun, and that's all that really matters.

WHY is that almost every single comment made here are either unintelligent or down-right stupid. I like this, I hate that, not my type of game, day-one game, no shadowing, poor rendering, poor environments.............

But of course, can't blame you people, since that's what DISTINGUISHES you CONSUMERS from the expert game makers.
1. DO SOME RESEARCH before you comment! Geez, do I have to tell you lot that!?
Itagaki only began ACTUAL development of NG2 since last year december!

2. UNDERSTAND THE BASICS OF A GAME DEVELOPMENT before you make judgement. The main bulk of optimization, shadowing, etc. only come after the game's general appearance and gameplay mechanics have been fleshed out.

3. Do you actually play ACTION games!? An action game focuses primarily on the action [and NOT environments or some beautiful sunset] and so all hardware resources and coding are directed mainly at optimizing gameplay procedures, A.I., interactivity, etc. Just like Itagaki said, you can't waste memory and resources on something that does not add anything to the GAMEPLAY! Seeing idiotic remarks like it's not good enough for me, or the shadowing has some issues, etc. just leaves one speechless. You do not even understand how the game engine works and you are making such unintelligent remarks like as though you know everything.

ANY game developer, after seeing that demo, would know INSTANTLY, the sheer amount of EXPERTISE and EFFORT that has gone into creating the engine [It's an entirely new engine from Ninja Gaiden 1, mind you]. And ANY decent game developer would know just how inferior their own engines or games really are when they see it. And we have not even talked about production values yet.

Please, for god sake, make some intelligent remarks as a gamer, even if you don't have the capacity of a game-maker, so that at least websites like Gamersyde would become a place for the educated, and not just the common learned.

Bottom-line: This is the MOST ADVANCED, SOPHISTICATED and ACCURATE action game ever. PERIOD. [Until N.G.3, 4...comes out of course.]

Would you rather a little kid be walking down the street and get covered in blood and probably killed on accident? The city is most likely evacuated or everyones hiding in their houses. Man people will complain about anything.
This is what we call a much more intelligent remark. Please, people, at least THINK, for a sec. like Ford.

Ryu has got to be the most generic ninja ever..give me Joe no mask from Shinobi!! game looks like it could have been done on the xbox, dmc4 looks more impressive gameplay(as far as what nero can do, but at least the enemies fight back in NG2) and design wise ITAGAKI needs to hire some new character designers. regardless, the game is still early, its never to late to give ryu a personality!

its funny people who haven't even played heavenly sword say its a failure..everyone who actually owns a ps3 is loving it..i personally couldn't put that game down, 8 hours later i felt like i had conquered the world..i RARELY play games for that long..BOTTOM LINE: PS3 owners, support HS! RENT it if you're cash strapped/ BUY it to support a great company..HS is a must play for PS3 owners.

I'm sorry, but you fail horribly. Your entire post is garbage that is more knee-jerk reaction than actual thought.

I certainly didn't see anything in the video that said "MOST ADVANCED, SOPHISTICATED and ACCURATE action game ever." In fact, that comment is infinitely more retarded than any of the comments regarding people being disappointed by the graphics.

The original NG had some amazing action, but it also backed it up with great graphics. A few years later, on new hardware, is it really too much to expect more than just slightly better visuals?

No physics, flat textures, flat lighting, barren environments, relatively small numbers of enemies(from what we've seen) - what is so fucking advanced about that? Please, do explain.

seems ok. nothing we havnt seen before. to me it just seems like dynasty warriors with less enemies, smaller enviroments, more moves and better graphics. which is ok i guess since dynasty warriors is pretty entertaining. i just dont see why people think adding huge amount of blood makes a game better.

Ryu Hyabusa is what set the stage for all other ninjas! What do you want, a ninja with huge blonde hair with a feminant outfit and looks.

Why are people all complaining, this game doesnt come out until 2008. This game, at its current stage, looks better than NG Sigma I also mention, it's running at 60fps.

Haha he maybe was listening to FF music when he wrote that.

Its quite obvious that Ryu Hayabusa is the ONLY one who can match as a real ninja and what ninjas can do.
The ninpo powers are for the fictional and gameplay part.

And you people need to quit bashing Heavenly Sword. I finished the entire game, and let me say that it was easily as impressive as the original Ninja Gaiden, only in different ways.
Would one of those ways be......gameplay?

And that's why you are still the consumers, and can only be the consumers, or only have the capacity and potential of a CONSUMER. To think that you should at least have the ability to figure out the complexity of the entire gameplay just by looking at "a spot on the leopard" is perhaps way beyond you. To think that you can ANALYSE information [or perhaps any piece of literature for that matter] is apparently also way beyond you. Perhaps that's why your vocabulary [the both of u, FYI] is so limited, since you spent practically your whole lives simply listening to people explaining in extreme detail about every single comment and playing a game from start to finish BEFORE you even bought it, simply because you lack the ability to grasp the primary mechanisms of a game and its design from simple demos and reviews. Honestly, have you made it through 5th grade? Just because you didn't see anything in the video doesn't mean it isn't there. Oh wait, this is probably way beyond you as well. A truly brainless idiot looking for simply mindless fun and gore. Please, go and understand the basic definitions of the different genres before you make comments like relatively few enemies. If a game is defined, even in part, as the best action game simply because it has countless enemies on screen at the same time, then honestly, no one should be reviewing games or be playing games anymore. We should be fighting wars instead, there are plenty of enemies there. Geez, the sheer stupidity. The fact that a game has a relatively large number of enemies on-screen at the same time only shows that
1: the hardware is capable of handling a large number of polygons per sec.
2: the game [or the scene] is about massive battles.

Thank you Olsen, I admit that I was somewhat infuriated by the mindless remarks of some of the individuals here so I made some rather arrogant comments myself. I certainly believe that I could have phrased them in a much more tactile manner, but please understand that my only and original intention is to put across the message of exactly how Ninja Gaiden 2's engine and overall design is so extraordinary that it literally outshines every game on the market right now. It's a pity that those with somewhat narrow views failed to see this and instead chooses games like PAIN [PS3], etc. Again, thank you for doing what I failed to do.

But how can you possibly know NG2's engine is that extraordinary or even that it's not an updated version of DOA4's ?
If you have a link, I'd be really interested in reading a paper about the engine, as I'm looking forward to playing NG2 !

renzokugi, I'm not even sure where you get off talking the way you do. You attack my vocabulary(which is probably more expansive than yours), you make grand, sweeping claims that this game is the be-all-end-all without anything to back it up, and you attack my analytical ability simply because you didn't read my previous posts. You just keep failing.

The first Ninja Gaiden was one of my favourite games of all time. I have no doubt that the 2nd will be right up there as well and will feature awesome gameplay. I also know that there is roughly a year left before the game is out, so there is still plenty of time for things to be upgraded and optimized. However, based on the footage shown(so my comments are directed towards the footage...not necessarily the final game), the game is lacking in the graphics department.

I don't see what's wrong with stating the obvious like that. Comments like mine at least make sense especially when compared to asinine drivel like "Ninja Gaiden 2's engine and overall design is so extraordinary that it literally outshines every game on the market right now." That's just damn stupid.

"Ninja Gaiden 2's engine and overall design is so extraordinary that it literally outshines every game on the market right now." - Geez, talk about a narrow view.

I think engines in games like Alan Wake, Crysis and Little Big Planet outshines Team Ninjas effort in many many ways, and i don't i'm not the only one who feels that way...

Anyways. Enough with this fighting which is quite sad and pathetic in it's own right. And actually i feel sad and pathetic to even be a part of it. so, shame on me. But let's just wait and see what happens with Ninja Gaiden 2, The graphics are going to get better thats for sure, and the gameplay will be excellent like in the previous installment . We all know that, right ?

Peace?

I don't see how you guys are complaining about the graphics. It looks better than Sigma, which was already gorgeous. You can only do so much with 60fps. Its not going to look as good as a game like UT3 running at 30.

Also stop comparing a games graphics to that of past generations. Its only natural that we get less and less WOW'd by visuals as developers keep raising the bar.
