You may already know it or not, but the full video of Microsoft Pres Conference last week is now available on the Marketplace, and in HD. I will of course capture everything that's worth watching, but it will take a bit of time. So while waiting for the videos here are some captures of the demo of Ninja Gaiden 2 done by the game's directory. It's important to mention that the game runs at 60 fps and the video at 30, so 2 images are blended together into one with not so good results most of the time. So I've selected the one that looks the least bad, I guess.
Update: As promised, here is the video. Many thanks to DjMizuhara for the capture and upload!
Update 2: Video now has sound, sorry about this!

Commented on 2007-09-17 04:35:36Also I love the scythe. I mean, when was the last time you could use a scyte in a game (that's not an RPG)? Love the dragon sword, or whatever it is he has now, but the scythe is just so appropriate.
Commented on 2007-09-17 05:21:17However, the game still looks good, and it obviously moves well. In the end, the game will be super fun, and that's all that really matters.
Commented on 2007-09-17 05:51:46But of course, can't blame you people, since that's what DISTINGUISHES you CONSUMERS from the expert game makers.
1. DO SOME RESEARCH before you comment! Geez, do I have to tell you lot that!?
Itagaki only began ACTUAL development of NG2 since last year december!
2. UNDERSTAND THE BASICS OF A GAME DEVELOPMENT before you make judgement. The main bulk of optimization, shadowing, etc. only come after the game's general appearance and gameplay mechanics have been fleshed out.
3. Do you actually play ACTION games!? An action game focuses primarily on the action [and NOT environments or some beautiful sunset] and so all hardware resources and coding are directed mainly at optimizing gameplay procedures, A.I., interactivity, etc. Just like Itagaki said, you can't waste memory and resources on something that does not add anything to the GAMEPLAY! Seeing idiotic remarks like it's not good enough for me, or the shadowing has some issues, etc. just leaves one speechless. You do not even understand how the game engine works and you are making such unintelligent remarks like as though you know everything.
ANY game developer, after seeing that demo, would know INSTANTLY, the sheer amount of EXPERTISE and EFFORT that has gone into creating the engine [It's an entirely new engine from Ninja Gaiden 1, mind you]. And ANY decent game developer would know just how inferior their own engines or games really are when they see it. And we have not even talked about production values yet.
Please, for god sake, make some intelligent remarks as a gamer, even if you don't have the capacity of a game-maker, so that at least websites like Gamersyde would become a place for the educated, and not just the common learned.
Bottom-line: This is the MOST ADVANCED, SOPHISTICATED and ACCURATE action game ever. PERIOD. [Until N.G.3, 4...comes out of course.]

I certainly didn't see anything in the video that said "MOST ADVANCED, SOPHISTICATED and ACCURATE action game ever." In fact, that comment is infinitely more retarded than any of the comments regarding people being disappointed by the graphics.
The original NG had some amazing action, but it also backed it up with great graphics. A few years later, on new hardware, is it really too much to expect more than just slightly better visuals?
No physics, flat textures, flat lighting, barren environments, relatively small numbers of enemies(from what we've seen) - what is so fucking advanced about that? Please, do explain.

Commented on 2007-09-17 08:19:59 In reply to pantyhelmetWhy are people all complaining, this game doesnt come out until 2008. This game, at its current stage, looks better than NG Sigma I also mention, it's running at 60fps.

The ninpo powers are for the fictional and gameplay part.

And where can i buy a crystal ball too and see in to the future, cos' you must own one, seeing that u know now in the year 2007, that the next Ninja Gaiden games are going to be the best action games of their time. Why do other game developers even bother...
And its kinda hard to take you seriously because you are like the "LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE" guy of Ninja Gaiden, and i can imagine you screaming " LEAVE TEAM NINJA ALONE!!! U SELFISH BASTARDS!! ALL YOU WANT ARE GOOD GRAPHICS AND AWESOME GAMEPLAY!! CANT U SEE THAT THEY DON'T WANT TO CHANGE THEIR ART STYLE !!!"

1: the hardware is capable of handling a large number of polygons per sec.
2: the game [or the scene] is about massive battles.

Commented on 2007-09-17 21:05:10 In reply to renzokugiThe first Ninja Gaiden was one of my favourite games of all time. I have no doubt that the 2nd will be right up there as well and will feature awesome gameplay. I also know that there is roughly a year left before the game is out, so there is still plenty of time for things to be upgraded and optimized. However, based on the footage shown(so my comments are directed towards the footage...not necessarily the final game), the game is lacking in the graphics department.
I don't see what's wrong with stating the obvious like that. Comments like mine at least make sense especially when compared to asinine drivel like "Ninja Gaiden 2's engine and overall design is so extraordinary that it literally outshines every game on the market right now." That's just damn stupid.
Commented on 2007-09-17 22:00:25I think engines in games like Alan Wake, Crysis and Little Big Planet outshines Team Ninjas effort in many many ways, and i don't i'm not the only one who feels that way...
Anyways. Enough with this fighting which is quite sad and pathetic in it's own right. And actually i feel sad and pathetic to even be a part of it. so, shame on me. But let's just wait and see what happens with Ninja Gaiden 2, The graphics are going to get better thats for sure, and the gameplay will be excellent like in the previous installment . We all know that, right ?
Peace?

Commented on 2007-09-17 22:12:28Also stop comparing a games graphics to that of past generations. Its only natural that we get less and less WOW'd by visuals as developers keep raising the bar.
