Xbox 360 PS3

Strangely it looks like it's in Tokyo that Assassin's Creed will be playable for everyone for the first time, and as you'll be able to see by yourself it looks like the engine has been quite optimized since E3. The gameplay itself in this video isn't really interesting, but it doesn't move badly and the view distance is really amazing.
Update: The video has been removed at Ubisoft's request. But don't fear, we'll get more about this amazing game soon!

Looks pretty sweet, solid fps and all. Maybe the guard AI could be tweaked a bit though :)

What? Last time I played Splinter Cell I was usually dying from 1 gunshot.
Everything depends on the difficulty settings! ;)

i think the AI was fine, at least on the street level. they treat the assassin as a threat, so they proceed with caution. The assassin still has a chance because the guards take the Hollywood movie approach and attack 1 at a time. This makes the game playable and the Altair seem like a baddass. I didn't like the fact that Altair can take so much damage. and i didn't like how the archers handled his presence. other than that, i was impressed.

That's true, but it's common sense that you play Splinter Cell on the hardest difficulty level - otherwise it's not a stealth game ;]

It's nice to see that they've stayed away from a hack-n-slash button-mashing fight fest. You actually have to use some level of skill to defeat your opponents and taking on half a dozen of them will most likely mean that you will end up dying..

Let's just hope that the fighting mechanism isn't too hard and is easy to learn/master..

Since the showcase was largely on the fighting and everything else looks like the same..I guess that's all I had..:)

The combat looked pretty shiddy tbh, looks just like the pirates of the carib game type of combat.

Anyway i'll wait for a demo till fully give up on AC

I hate to play devil's advocate but I tend to agree. The combat looked shoddy and it also seemed as if the guards (especially the archers) were way too lackadaisical in their approach to killing Altair.

I know this isn't the final product so I'm not condemning the game to failure but I hope that they do take some strides to really polish out the combat.

Other than that, WOW at the engine and depth/scale of the playable environment. That's really impressive. Also the acrobatic animations (when climbing and jumping around) were absolutely perfect.

Not impressed. I predict this game bombs horribly-- I'm talking Army of Two or Stranglehold horribly. And just look how the guards lock on to you all stiff as you run back. I couldn't stop laughing. I don't understand the hype for this game. From the very beginning, I've yet to see something compelling.

so far it looks great, i just hope they get everything spot on. despite how cool the whole interactive moving through the crowd thing is...a ,ot of the time the animations are not fluid and as a result he looks more like an excited child playing aeroplane then an assassin trying to get through a crowd.

dying after a gunshot has nothing to do with AI though, thats just the cheap way to increase difficulty. instead of making your enemies more intelligent they just make it easier for you to die and make the enemies bullets hurt more. i dont think i'd played a game that doesnt use that method.

I don't find this game that interesting anymore. Surroundings start to look generic after a while, the people in the "crowd" don't seem to have any personal aspect to them at all, and the combat is looking rather... bland. We'll see how it works out.

i would get angry to, its normal.

but wow, this game is way too cool. its very awesome. i'm not sure if they changed the timeing of the guards or not but from what i saw in the last fight it looks like the guards dont wait 30 seconds between each attack now, thats pretty cool. but hey if they didnt i just look stupid.

Oh come on, AI in Splinter Cell is accaptable. It's not as good and investigating as AI in Thief, but it is acceptable. The only AI routine that required major overhaul I could think of is behaviour near doors where they behave in completely stupid manner.

I'm talking about Double Agent on Xbox 1 as it is the game I remember the most.

I don't think it's as bad as Pirates because in that game you just had to get two strikes on your opponent and they turned around for you to finish them off. There's no such thing here, you just have to time your attacks to ensure that you actually strike as opposed to getting blocked.

I'm sure they'll refine this as time goes on.
