While waiting for videos (when I'll manage to actually drive...), here are some captures from the demo of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue now available on the japanese PSN.
Update: Added a second series of images.
Update2: Added a first gameplay video. Low resolution 640x360, but at 60 fps (except for the stream). And as a bonus, everything you shouldn't do on a real track :)
Update3: Last video for me tonight, with a bit of the awesome realtime menu, followed by a replay of great race. 720p of course!
Update4: Snoopers speaking, here's a gameplay montage of one race I did with a white BMW, in 720p and 60fps. This is how ya win a race son !
Update5: Last update with the full replay of the race I just did, in 720p.

COULD be the game that makes me buy a PS3.
Question.
how does the PS3 handle its online play? Does it do it as well as the 360? IF the answer is yes I may buy a cut down PS3 as I don't need backward compatibility having skipped the PS2.
Just once more for the record..
WOW :)

The default race car doesn't have an inside the car view, and I wish you could swing the view around with the right stick like so many other racing games.
The cockpit on the cars that do have it feel REALLY good an connected to the road.
I love the reflections of the cars, the modeling is great.
The side mirrors aren't as nice as the rear view mirror, lots of details cut out.
There's a bit too much bloomy effects too, there's too much contrast.

Commented on 2007-10-20 04:36:351st time i playted the demo damn it looked hot this is next gen. baby.
Commented on 2007-10-20 04:38:29The first car, the masked car Nissan GT-R i believe has rubbish handling, so go for the other cars, BWM 135i, Subaru, Lancer etc they handle like a dream and plus THERE IS DASHBOARD view for those cars - the dashboard details is like the most detailed ever! In the replays the heat haze is stonkingly realistic, the tires of the 135i is just insane, the most realistic wheels ever in a racer i might add! Heck all of the details of the cars, scenery etc is incredible, considering all at 700mbs or so!
Btw, if you leave the game idle, demos of other tracks will be played, you can even control the replays to a certain degree, ones you've raced in and ones demoed, press up/down on the dpad to change cars, SELECT to change car camera and the square and X buttons zoom in and out the race.
PS: When the complete version is available, the Blu-Ray version will contain crash damage physics apparently!
Cannot wait for the full retail game now, my faith in the Gran Turismo series has been totally restored!!!
GT FTW!!! :D

Commented on 2007-10-20 20:13:06But GT5 is more a rival to Forza 2, which has not the slightest chance to compete with this.

Commented on 2007-10-21 20:21:15GT5 may be GT4 with next-gen visuals, but I believe that by GT6 they'll have the gameplay down too.
