Wii

Super Mario Galaxy has been released today in Japan, and as usual now our good friend DjMizuhara has captured and uploaded some nice videos of the game. Let's start with the first 10 minutes, with more to come.
Update: Second part is up. More videos tomorrow!
Update 2: We are back, this time with the Bee Suit in action and some various gameplay bits.
Update 3: And here comes a third video with even more various gameplay, in very cool levels you've never seen before.
Update 4: Nothing stops DjMizuhara once he gets going, and he sent us nothing less than 3 more videos. Good stuff!
Update 5: One more video, this time showing the Boo suit in action among other things.
Update 6: This time it looks like DjMizuhara's streak is finally over with this last video. Many thanks to him for his great work.

I don't like to judge games before playing them, but from what i saw i really miss the "open playground" style of SM 64 (one of the 2 best games ever for me. The other is Ocarina of time). I know it's an attempt to make something different and i'll probably buy a Wii just to play this :D

Be careful what you say: giving a negative, yet balance opinion, in a post about a game, seems to get your message hidden from view. I just like to say this before I get banned.

You shouldn't worry about Galaxy's level design here, as that is being hailed as some of the finest ever in a game. There's still the open playground level feel that you are talking about in the game, plus a few new perks. Those who slated this game as looking boring and generic, as if it had nothing new to offer, have had their opinions blown out of the water with amazing scores from reviews from across the board. I found it ridiculous that anyone even dared to complain about a game that has turned out as good as this. But then again, those of us in the know knew it would be amazing as soon as we saw it, just like we know a damp squib when we see one, yet somehow expressing this kind of opinion is shunned upon on this site.

SM 64 is hailed by many as the best game ever created. If someone won't' find galaxy on the same level, it doesn't mean it isn't a great game.
As for me i'll wait to play it as i dont give reviews any credits since a long time.
The "feeling" i was talking about was referred to the big, open scenaries stretching to the horizon of SM64 and you can't negate Galaxy takes level design from a different prospective. Witch isn't necessarly a bad thing.

Is it just me or is the Wii now in 720p? I had to update my Wii just for it to recognize Galaxy and it looks amazing on my tv! It cant be 480p...Too many signs graphically state the later. Nice job Nintendo!

It is 480p. Metroid Prime on the cube also looks CONSIDERABLY better than something like Resident Evil 4 or Twilight Princess on the Wii even.

480p has gotten so slagged off it's gone way out of proportion.
