PS3

It's been a long time since we got anything from Killzone 2. So I'm happy to post these 14 images, even though I'm quite sure I've already seen them before (but not here).

I hear the beta is supposed to begin around Fall of next year?
As Phil Harrison said, don't trust any dates when it comes to Killzone2.

It won't be out until it's perfect and I assume the same goes for any sort of BETAs.

And no, they do not need to ditch the dark theme, the dark theme war style is what Killzone is known for. War isnt pretty and colorful.
Its suppose to make war look ugly, rusty, destroyed, nightmare
This is all true but i never said i wanted it colorful and pretty, i just don't want it to take place during the night, dark games where popular during previous console generations since it's a good way to keep games pretty without having to show to much detail.
This game can have all the night levels it wants to but so long as it has levels set during the day too.

And i really hope you can turn off that fucking "film grain" effect, it never looks good in games, especially now with hd-tv gaming why on earth would you want an effect that blurs and distorts the crystal clear images from your nice tv.
Mass effect looks tons better with it turned off.

Bakut...ah I missunderstood you there then.

I can guarentee you that there will be different environments that wont take on during the night. I don't know how much of it, but enough to see variety for sure.

I guess they wanted to show off this one at night to show the lighting, the graphics of how it reflects with it, the thunderlights, particles...etc.

I agree, I hope the grain effect is something we can remove (doubtful), and Mass Effect has a very good system that allows you to change the graphics a bit.

Looking good. I liked the first killzone and i'm anxious to get started on 2.

I died plenty of times in killzone too. On the beach and especially when you meet up with Adams and after the cinematic helghast come at you from the left and right but it was so much fun trying. Sometimes my strategy was so bad i'd run out of ammo for every weapon I had lol.

Looks great. Though the first was flawed, it was pretty obvious the series has a lot of potential. Guerrilla seems like a dev that listens to what their fans have to say, and with a new expanded team and Sony backing them, I have high hopes for this one.

Its ALL in-game.
You should watch the dev walkthrough of the demo. They paused the trailer and went around the characters....etc.

I have no idea why people think violet, pink, and light blue=good art direction. I am a tad biased towards the Helghast in particular as them themselves are a homage to the protect gear armor, as seen in the Jin-Roh anime. I don't see why people are complaining that this game will all take place in one area when the last game didn't either. The urban environment perfectly fits.

After spending at least five hours with Killzone Liberation, I have reached the conclusion that Guerrilla can't make good games. I don't want to hurt the SDF but Liberation has a really good atmosphere with a good graphics engine to boot but the gameplay is just so tough and lame, I just hope for this game after playing Liberation.
Please Doom_Bringer, STFU already with you endless "KILLZONE will suck-trashtalk". You are not even funny, so don't even try it. After being banned from GAF you think you have to register on every damn gaming site and talk trash?
Get a life, you loser! Nobody cares what you say, think and want!

"As soon as he was perma banned from GAF he started posting on the official PlayStation forum claiming to be an insider who had seen footage of Killzone PS3 (this was before E3) and found it severly disappointing. He was laughed out of there as well"

:-D OMG, you are such a loser!

These look somewhat like actual buffer grabs looking at some of the polygon edges, and that makes these pretty impressive. But they could be pulling a fast one again. If grabs = great, if bullshots = cmon with the shenaningans already

the one thing that would make this great is if theres a gadget to let you plug a 360 controller into the ps3 somehow, im thinking via USB

FPS games are much better on 360 controller IMO, (or keyboard if you like),

playstation analogue set up as always annoyed me ever since it was first introduced, its such a set back for such a next gen looking game, if i could use a 360 controller i would just be able to get into it better if you know what i mean, rather then spending alot of the time swearing at the controller

PS3 is going to be a very attractive looking package next year. with hopefully a proper price drop and the release of killzone 2 and GT5, AND id like a bluray player sometime next year, the ps3 could be an offer i might not be able to refuse (unless these anticipated games turn out to be a bit shit)

This game almost convinced me to buy a PS3 back when it's first trailer debuted.

It's definitely one sexy game, but it's inevitable that it will be toned down by release, every game is. It's just good that they have such a high place to tone down from :P.

Here's hoping the gameplay is actually good, unlike the last one, for the sake of all the PS3 owners out there.

Wow, these look awesome, and it looks EVEN BETTER in the video. Stuff that no next-gen game has done before will be done in KZ2. PS3 already has the best looking game this gen so far with Uncharted and it's apparent things will just be getting better. :)
Killzone showed a lot of promise but was held back by the PS2 hardware. Now that they have the beast that is the PS3 and a HUGE budget and staff being Sony first party now this game will surely shine.
And I really can't wait to play with the first person cover system! 1st person cover system > third person cover system (when dealing with a FPS)

The first Killzone was not perfect, yes, but it was however fun, a lot of fun, because of the great athmosphere, and a cool story in my opinion. Hm, the gameplay was okay. Not really superb, but okay. Well, except in twoplayer mode, there it was hell ^^
When they do a great job on gameplay, this game will rock, 'caus the athmosphere allready looks stunning.

Jioann: Hm, I think the PS3 controller is a good controller for EgoShooters. I really liked to play Resistance and COD4. Never had problems with the gameplay. It's not like playing with the keyboard and mouse, but with that semi-automatic aiming system in COD4, it was great to play.

All these great games just sitting there, waiting for me to play them, yet I won't because of those god darn analogue sticks. I think you can buy one for $150 on some hacking site =/

Doesn't logitech make third party PS3 pads yet? Their PS2/Xbox pads were very nice.

The aim assists in COD are pretty well done, and I'd even say necessary considering the pace of combat.

Looks good, but it's a bit too gray for my taste. The only thing that breaks the monotony in terms of color is muzzle blasts and glowing goggles :P

As for the game itself, i didn't really like the first one so i guess this is not for me either. Still, it's hard not to give a game like this attention.
I think it's possible that it's just this level. Afterall that's all we've seen of the game, and basing this whole thing on the lighting engine it's possible that there will be significantly different colors depending on the local. The game looks incredible though, I really love the style of the way everything is.

There’s nothing wrong with the analog sticks, in fact I prefer them to be symmetrical, it makes much more sense that way because it’s a more natural thumb position.

And to Bakutheswede: I’m perfectly calm, I hope that what I said didn’t cause bitter tears.
