it's when you start going crazy with the dynamic lighting, crazy textures, self shadowing, NPCS, at 60 fps that can cause a performance drop.
The FPS is essentially how performance is measured in games. The reason you can't have 60fps in most games is because the processor runs at a speed which has to be accommodated by the other parts of the game. If a processor can do 100 million processes per second then you have to make sure that everything you want your game to do has to be processed in under that time. This is why you have 30fps steady or unsteady games, because whatever you're having the processor do can't be done in 1/60th of a second so you lock the fps at 30fps to accommodate. Averything that you want in a game contributes to the underrunning of the clock.

Computers are good and fast, but even the best of them have to face the reality of their master's ambition

Thats untrue, Forza 2 did 300 physics calculation per second but the game ran at 30 FPS if I remember correctly.

Forza 2? the physics were 350 i think and at 60 fps.

replays are 30 with processing effects.

Chill out in here fellas. This ain't a "my fav game is better than your fav game" debate. Discussion on DMC4 is welcome, but for the rest of this shit, take it elsewhere.

Looks nice. Like people said, it is all about art design. The engine powering MGS4 is more impressive, but the artists at Capcom know their shit. That is what made DMC3, in spite of being hampered by PS2 hardware, look so beautiful.

This game is going to be great.

The reason DMC3 and 90% of every other game out there uses a pre-rendered intro video is to make sure you don't have to sit and wait through a loading screen every single time you start up the game. I'm pretty sure they did the same here, regardless of whether the game CAN render these graphics in real time or not.

EDIT: So... Can anyone tell me why the second cutscene doesn't look nearly as impressive as the first one then?

Nice cutscsne though, is this using same engine as RE5 ?
This game uses the Lost Planet engine, which Capcom seems to be using for most of their recent games (Dead Rising, Lost Planet, DMC4, RE5).

Actually, it is called the MT engine.

i love how he watched 12 people die before deciding to help out....and how the chick decided that covering the boy would somehow help him...sorry sweety, you both would have died...

the game looks nice though, but i've never been much of a DMC fan. I'm more of a NG guy myself...

This is a tough debate.I am the one who originally uploaded the videos and ripped them.I just contacted Blim and sent him two more in high quality for you guys. The one is of Gloria's Entrance and the first part of the fight between Nero and Dante.

Nero vs Dante is a good video you can see the real time stuff alot better but regardless their engine is gorgeous and looks phenominal.

Well, none so far depending on your definition of AAA.

That is outsourced to GRIN (GRAW1/2 PC version) iirc.

Well yeah, but Capcom is still with them to make it...so they are a part of it.

(hehehehe) i knew putting AAA would get me to this. i mean by looking at sells of their games (over a million), and the heavy guns dmc and re5 haven't arrived yet

Well, yeah, saleswise LP and DR were AAA (the same cannot be said about review wise), only in the US though, the Japanese sales of these games don't even get past 20,000 units which is why they are porting LP to the PS3 so late in the game. Probably setting up the franchise for PS3 owners for the eventual release of the supposed LP: Colonies which is multiplatform. Anyway, I do agree with you that Capcom was prepared for next gen/current gen. They are one of the only major Japanese studios to release a title.
