Let the metal phenomena die already please, it's getting even more obnoxious as stuff like this gets released
What 'metal phenomenon'? It's been dead for a while. There's a lot of other things that DO need to die though...

When did metal die? Fuck, I missed the funeral!!!

Oh man. This will rock! In every sense ^^
The trailer was so f*** awesome and funny, I hope this game will be as captive as Grim Fandango!

I would prefer another phenomena die (Hip-Hop) but lets not discuss musical tastes here.
The game looks great, gives me the full throttle vibe which is awesome :D
+1

Ignore your taste for music and give the game a chance before you flame it. Remember it's made by the same team that did psychonauts.
You don't have to be a psychiatrist to love Psychonauts, so chances are that you won't need to be a metal fan to enjoy this one either.

Psychonauts meets Full Throttle meets Guitar Hero:) How could it possibly be anything else than a masterpiece...

I will ignore music for a second then
These screens look like they come from a generic game. The trailer for it is a joke and rips off every metal stereotype possible but poorly. It looked like a watered down version of Metalocalypse, it's been done
For someone who created a unique game like Psychonauts, this seems really out of character
It's a good thing he made that game though I guess, otherwise this game wouldn't be getting so much undeserved praise in this thread

I think you don't have to take it so serious. It's a fun game with a nice story. The metal theme is a thing of taste, but does not represent the metal scene at all. For those who hate metal it's a nice game to laugh about metalheads, and for those who love metal, it's a nice game... well, hehehe, however it is metal in the game! So, it is made for everybody ^^

that's just so funny because metal has been declared dead since the late seventies :)

and the guys who think that is ripping off stereotypes probably never watched "this is spinal tap"... it's called a "parody"

It really doesn't seem like you're ignoring the music at all. You might think that it's getting "undeserved praise" because Psychonauts was a good game, but it really seems like you're giving it some undeserved hate simply because metal doesn't appeal to you.

What's this "metal phenomenon" that people have mentioned? Is that in reference to...what...Guitar Hero(which really features very little metal)...? I really don't get it. As far as music, fortunately there's a vast landscape of many different kinds of metal; it's far from dead for a lot of people.

First off, I was wondering if you could tell me what's so generic about it. I'm not sure about you, but I haven't played any action adventure games revolving around a metal theme in at least a good while. Is it the art you find generic? I dunno, I haven't played a game recently resembling this.

Second, is there something wrong with the game using metal stereotypes? I mean, that seems to be a pretty big focus. I wouldn't say it's a flaw...unless of course you're letting your bias against this apparent(wtf?) "metal phenomenon" get in the way.

Third...you've gotta be shitting me. Since Metalocalypse is a show about a fictional metal band, Brutal Legend can't have a metal theme without having it "been done"? What the hell kind of reasoning is that? Shit, I might as well write-off Ninja Gaiden 2 and not bother playing it...I mean, it has a ninja in it...and ninjas have "been done."

Oh my god, just drop it!
I don't like the way the game looks, drop the metal portion that I complained about
The screens look generic, it looks like a generic action adventure game
Wow look at him put an axe through some terribly designed characters
Those baby carriages are pretty sweet with that AMAZING car he's driving
THERE, hopefully now you can stop talking about my stereotype complaint and address why I don't like this on a different level
Also maybe you should accept that Schaffer decided to use a pop culture trend that is very apparent today so he could cash in unlike his overlooked Psychonauts. Hope it works out for him, but I don't LIKE the trend, deal with it.

I was addressing certain points that needed clarification. You tell me to "drop the metal portion," yet 2 of the 3 points you mentioned that I was wondering about dealt with the metal aspects of the game.

What is an example of a game that's not generic looking since you want me to drop the metal portion? I'm genuinely curious because I don't find it generic looking. I don't think the graphics are great by any means, but I really don't get a "generic" vibe from this.

Way to be a hypocrite. You tell me to drop the metal stuff, but there you go...bringing it right back by saying he's using "a pop culture trend that is very apparent today so he could cash in." Can you give me more examples outlining how it's very apparent today? Maybe where you live it is and where I live it isn't, so I'm genuinely interested. Or maybe you're being a bit of an ass. Who knows!
