Eidos and Funcom released this video showing the various graphical abilities of the engine developed for Age Of Conan. Of course it's all about the PC version, and nothing indicates whether eveything will still be in the 360 version of not.
To be quite honest, the game looked worse when playing than in the screenshots i looked at before downloading it. The water was cool, but otherwise i'm still not particularly impressed. Sure there are some sharp textures in there but it just doesn't live up to what AoC has shown so far. Of course i haven't played conan, but i have seen demonstrations of gameplay and to me it looks a hell of a lot sweeter. I guess that our opinions on this matter is just different.
And i do know my way around applications like 3dsmax, maya and zbrush/mudbox just so you know. While i'm not a genious when it comes to programming and different APIs like DX or GL, i do know a little bit about it.
(terribly sorry about the horrible compression on the EQ snaps, the game did that all on it's own)
OK, this is what I was thinking a little bit ago, you've been looking at low quality screens and movies, because that's how a lot of people play the game. It's like saying Crysis's graphics suck because of screens on non-max settings too. It's the same thing.
I maxed out the graphics when i played it here, at my own computer. By myself. I tried it. What more can i do? Except for the compression f*ing up the pictures, this is how it looked. I didn't take intentionally bad looking screens or anything.
If i had chosen myself the jpeg compression wouldn't be this bad but the game kind of forced my hand here. I suppose i could have done an alt+printscreen but that was just more of a hassle than it was worth.

Well that is one of the first expansion areas, it doesn't look as good as some of the original levels, are you able to check out any of the original areas? The noob isle or Freeport or Qeynos?
Also, are you quite sure you maxed out the graphics as well? There's a lot of sliders you can mess with...

I checked under some of the tabs but everything seemed to be maxed so i didn't check them all. Maybe i missed something. And no i only visited this starter area. The demo didn't allow me to play any other race and i didn't have the patience to do much exploring since i never meant to do much more than check the games graphics. Feel free to post screens that show off the good side of the game though, I'd love to see from where all your enthusiasm stems.

Look above, I've posted 3, and they look better than these AoC media, and the AoC media might even be bullshots.
As an additional note, those 3 shots AREN'T EVEN MAX SETTINGS!

Also, are you quite sure you maxed out the graphics as well? There's a lot of sliders you can mess with...
