Xbox 360

Bioware just announced Bring Down the Sky downloadable content for Mass Effect, to be released on the 10th of March. For a cost of 400p, you will get 90 extra minutes of gameplay and 50 possible gamerscore points. Inside you will find some more info and the first images of it.

Quoting Bioware announcement:
To date, over 1.6 million gamers have explored the engaging sci-fi universe of Mass Effect. Beginning on March 10, fans everywhere will be able to expand the “Mass Effect” experience with the release of the first ever downloadable content for the award-winning saga.

The Bring Down the Sky downloadable content pack will be released to Xbox LIVE Marketplace on Monday, March 10 at 2 a.m. PST, and will be available for 400 MS points. This is the first in a series of planned downloadable content that further expands the Mass Effect universe and continues the adventures of Commander Shepard and the Normandy crew.

Bring Down the Sky includes a new uncharted world that introduces the notorious and feared alien race of the Batarians. A Batarian extremist group has hijacked a mobile asteroid station in the Asgard system, setting it on a collision course with the nearby colony world of Terra Nova. Only Commander Shepard can save the millions of innocent civilians before the asteroid completes its deadly descent.

Bring Down the Sky contains approximately 90 minutes of heart-pounding action and a new Achievement worth 50 Gamerscore points.

A bit more info from the Bioware dev on the dlc content:
Chris Priestly

A couple of answers for you (without trying to spoil any upcoming fun).

The DLC will fit into an existing game (or will be available if you start a new game) and will appear as a new Galaxy Map location.

It takes place during the game play, not "after the game".

March 10 is for all regions afaik (if I hear different I will let everyone know). There will be localized subtitles, but not VO.

Bring Down the Sky is only available through Xbox Live. Sign up for an Xbox Live account and learn more about how to get Live Points for ME DLC.

And yes, this is the FIRST Mass Effect DLC, there will be more to come in the future (but we aren't talking about that just yet). :)

I really love Mass Effect, played through it 4 times but one thing is for certain, this DLC is gonna be seriously lame, but I simply cant reject its purchase.

Wait, what?!

Not more of the uncharted worlds! That's the worst thing that ever happened to ME, the boring "uncharted worlds". If this is just the same old template with another skin and a different enemy for 400 p I think I'll pass on this one, thank you very much.

I'll wait for some solid info/footage, but I get the feeling this isn't the DLC I was hoping for. >:(

Also, what ever happened to a patch for the crappy performance...hmmmnn...yeah right...
QFT.

Hmm I'm not entirely convinced.

If it was 200 points, yeah I could live with that.

i think we should of got this for free. we already paid 60 bucks for the game why make us pay 5 more to pay for content that could possibly already been built into the code.

Hey math boy, reread your own post! - 800 points /120 minutes = 8.3 cents a minute, 400 / 90 = 5.5 cents a minute - I'll take what they offer in that case.

Anyway, while I skip over cutscenes lately, and have other games to play (COD4 and Halo 3) I just seem to keep coming back to this game for some reason - I mean the stutter is annoying, and the control is much worse than other shooters, but there is something about it that I just dig. Maybe it's just the unearned nerd points, but that ship is cool. Anyone else?

I was hoping for more than just an 1hour and 30 minutes of gameplay but oh well, i loved the game so much that the 5 dollars spent on the DLC is worth it to me even tho its only 1hour 30mins long.

Okay, i love mass effect, i will get this.. But..
Am i the only one that would rather have a pack with like 10 new random worlds with random bases with enemies, than a single unique extra encounter?

haha, you cheecky bugger! :P

I'll have you know that I have a part time job whilst living the [sarcasm]luxurious[/sarcasm] life of a student. :)

Doesn't mean I should spend my money on stuff I don't need. And despite my adoration for Mass Effect, this DLC doesn't really look like 'must have' material. Come on lets be honest.

Roughly 4 dollars for 90 minutes is a bargain. Glad to see Bioware isn't ripping you off for DLC unlike certain other companies.
