Atari and Spark Unlimited today announced that Legendary will be released this summer on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Inside you'll find a couple of images and judging from the screenshot information, they are from both console versions.

Press release:
Legendary tells the story of Charles Deckard, an art thief who is duped into stealing Pandora’s Box. When he inadvertently opens it, he releases hordes of beasts thought to be fictional – such as werewolves and gryphons – into an unprepared modern world. A full scale war between man and myth begins, and it is quickly complicated by the actions of powerful secret societies. As the person responsible for releasing this terror, Deckard’s unwittingly become the only person capable of containing it once more and saving civilization from being destroyed by the terrifying creatures.

looks interesting

to save money and make money , they make the game first on 360 then they see what runs and what not in the PS3 using the same 360 version , fix a little bit of the bugs , downgrade a bit in the parts were framerate goes down and cash it in.

Lol. The design theory of EA games. Anyway, a medicore looking game just looks incredibly more mediocre with this philosophy.

UE3 is a great engine, but only if the devs know what their doing with it...

And this game is WAY too choppy, its worse then halo 3!! and the guns on the ground in pic 1...wth is with them?

I love how now people are jaded even about the engines games run on these days, as if it's the engine's to blame that some games that use it have repetitive art direction. Just because a couple mediocre developers use a popular engine thinking that alone will help them sell games doesn't make the engine shit. I mean "I'm so sick of UE3?" I fucking laugh directly in your face for such a stupid comment. Last time I checked, UE3 was responsible for, among others, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Lost Odyssey and Last Remnant. That alone should prove that it is a great engine, capable of many things. Hell, the three of those games that have been released are some of the best, and best looking, games of the current generation. Be blasé if you want about a game's art direction, but it has nothing to do with the engine.

It's made by Spark Unlimited, the purveyors of Turning Point. Hack developers = average game. Looks like a nice idea, but I'm sure it'll be generic circle strafe fair.

Not really. The success of ME, Bioshock, (Lost Odyssey doesn't look that good and I haven't seen enough of Last Remnant to make a judgement) is due solely to the developers. They modify the engine, rewrite parts of it, and make it so great.

And without the base UE3 engine, they would have to have spent more of their dev time and money developing an engine of their own. That's not to say that "Game made with UE3 = a great game by default", but there is definitely a reason why heavy-weight developers are licensing it.

However, when Id tech 5 comes out, I am pretty sure that will be the base engine of choice. Great multiplatform capabilities, runs great on the PC, PS3, and 360 and very easy multiplatform development. Using this engine, developers won't hemmorage money on half-assed PS3 ports, many of which were caused by the unoptimized UE3 code for PS3 that wasn't fixed until the release of UT3.
