Two days before the american release of the role-playing game Dragon Quest Swords on the Nintendo Wii, Square-Enix opens an official website for it. This is the occasion for us to present you its images. Europe will have to wait until this summer before putting its sword on it.

I like the old school, first person rpg feel to it.

I heard it's only 8-10 hours long.

Not a problem. Some of the greatest games out there are 8-10 hours or below.

This makes me even more pissed off that DQIX is on the DS. A total waste of potential. If Squeenix wanted to make money fast, they should have just developed it for the Wii. Would look much better and continue the cinematic quality started by DQVIII. I'm still going to buy DQIX on the DS though.

The Wii wasn't considered a success back then so it would have been a massive gamble.

This looks ok, don't like the FP view, looks slightly better than DQ8 graphically.

Would like to see a DQ10 on the PS3.

DQX may very well be possible on the PS3 if sales for FFXIII are good and if Level 5 continues to make the DQ titles. Level 5 would have created their own engine for the PS3 by the time any decisions for DQX take place (White Knight Chronicles) which should facilitate development.

It's different with RPGs though. RPGs and some other genres stretch out content, make the pacing much slower, there's no excuse for a RPG this 'retro' to be this short.

Well this isn't exactly a run of the mill RPG. It's an on-rails game where you defeat enemies by slashing at them with the wiimote. Basically Umbrella Chronicles without the guns. I've never seen an on-rails game last longer than 10 hours max unless you add in secret modes and other nifty extras.

Rumor is it's already being developed, so why not?
