:groan: It looks like they are using and upgraded FarCry Instincts engine instead of the PC one. Personally, I disliked the AI in Far Cry (uber ears and vision even if you were hiding in the woods across a lagoon... and deadly aim did not make me feel like the AI was great, but instead just tough) and the acting was bad and the story cheesy (imo), so all that was left was the drop dead GORGEOUS graphics. This looks to have everything but the graphics... Pass.

EA now has CryTek (and Critereon) so they should have some decent inhouse technology. Not gonna even touch their business practices......

I'm going to buy it. Infact, this game looks great; it runs at 60fps, and it looks a helluva lot better than CoD2. Did anyone complain about the graphics in CoD2? No, so shaddup.

Easy easy everyone, programmer has somewhat of a point - although that point is not relevant where Far Cry Instincts is concerned. But do you honestly believe the paper specs that were released to hype the next-gen consoles (don't forget the Emotion Engine)? Do you honestly believe that the CPU in a 360 can outperform an Athlon 64 X2, which alone costs more than 2 360s? Don't you think that Intel and Amd would be in serious trouble if IBM could make such a wildly powerful chip for such little money? Show me FEAR running at maximum detail with a steady framerate and I may believe you (although it couldn't handle Q:IV, so it's doubtful).

The Xbox 360 is a powerful gaming machine, I will give credit where it is due - but a year from now, with the next-gen of video cards and directx 10 just around the corner, it will have fallen behind again. PCs, by their extraordinary cost and modular nature, will always be more powerful - if you can afford it, that is. Because on a PC, no matter how much you spend, "next gen" is just around the corner.

That's my rant for the day, oh, and Far Cry Instincts looks like shit.

Actually yes, those PowerPC 3.2GHz processors are actually more powerful than the Athlon 64 X2 or Pentium Ds. They're much more powerful than Opterons as well. I hope you realize that AMD is borrowing technology from IBM in the multicore technology. Pricings are NOT indications of their performance since PROFITS are what a company is all about. Microsoft have a deal with IBM and ATI to use their chips at lower than wholesale prices, with a large payment upfront which MS will rely on softwares and accessories sales. Retail/OEM prices are determined with Supply and Demand, not an indication of performance. PCs cost significantly more because there are numerous parts that are need (Hard Drive/Memory/Motherboard/Etc) and each part is already marked up for profit.

Consoles are built with newer technology in mind from the moment they are released for the lifespan of the system, 5+ years, and the lack of upgradability. It is true that a year or so PC technology will surpasses any consoles. To make a long story short, Nvidia and ATI price their video cards at $600 because they know that the X1800 or 7800GT will NOT sell more than 10 million units by the time the next video card is out. A console will accumulate 20-100 million units in its life span so they can price the units at a much lower price.

I know it's hard for PC gamers to swallow the fact that the PowerPCs are more powerful than Pentiums and Athlons and Xbox360 is a powerful machine at a low cost, but that's the way business works.
