The masons at Sony continue their good work with the Home construction, the social network a la Second Life planned for the Playstation 3 system. We see that the uploading of images seems functional in one of these new images, with nobody else than Shigeru Miyamoto shown in a frame. Also, would there be possibility of a mini-game with a unicycle? Look attentively in the window of that store.
Update: added nine images

It's something that's going to be ignored, once the novelty wears off.
Again, not trying to be a fanboy, I'm sure there are those of you that love the idea of this, but to me the whole thing seems unnecessary. I'd rather keep it simple. :)

I remember how devoid of life the original xbox live was. It took time for them to show and prove. Now look at them, from the features to the arcade, to the marketplace they have alot of third-party support; and it's because they've proven that the idea and implementation were sound.
I personally am not interested in Home, but recognize that others are. Good ideas take time to come into their own.

It certainly looks pleasing enough to the eye but I think it's going to need more than a virtual space to keep people coming back to it. And of course investing the time, money and/or achievements to make it a virtual space worth showing off to your friends.

One of the first games expected to shine in one of Home's series of game portals is Insomniac's Resistance: Fall of Man. Resistance is said to provide Home visitors with an interesting room to explore, one that will let PlayStation 3 owners visit unseen areas of the game and tap into bonus content in the form of "intercepted" radio communications between European and U.S. forces.
Uncharted:

While Resistance: Fall of Man's integration with Home should have bonus content fans excited, old school run-and-gun shooter fans should be pretty pumped about what they may be getting with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune's contribution. We hear that the Home portal for Naughty Dog's PlayStation 3 adventure will follow in Resistance's footsteps, allowing Home avatars to explore the game's levels without the threat of being shot at, a nice feature. But it's the Uncharted mini-game that has us far more pumped.
According to our sources, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune comes to Home armed with a side-scrolling 2D arcade game, described to us as reminiscent of both Contra and Out Of This World. Sounds kind of like Capcom's 2D remake of Bionic Commando in its execution, full of enemies and exploding barrels to shoot.
WOWhawk:
Quote:
...the Home lobby for the Incognito dogfighter will serve as a "war room" where up to eight players can meet to discuss their strategy for an upcoming match. Sure, you could do that with text or voice chat, but it sounds like the developers have gone the extra mile to make planning your battles even cooler.
Using a three-dimensional "sand table" replication of the level, Warhawk players are said to be able to lay out their strategies in a properly scaled space. They'll even be able to place little army men avatars around the map to envision their formations, something we hope they can also do with teeny tiny Warhawk planes, tanks and Jeeps.
Commented on 2008-02-28 06:06:30As for Home, might be interesting to mess around with for a bit, but if some virtual chatroom is what everybody really wants, they already have that on PC. Compared to Live, Home seems like a hindrance to function. It should be substance over style, function over form; not the other way around to lure a bunch of casual gamers with some flashy new t-shirts and sunglasses.
But hey, that's just one guy's opinion. Oh wait, Podcast B3owned!

Just to reinforce what I said before, it might be fun for a bit, but once the novelty wears off, just how much will it be used? When I want to play a game, I'm not going to go to the trouble of logging in to a chat room first, not when I can simply send a message to the person.
