GOW was better then HALO but, well lets just say GOW2 is toward the bottom of my list of games to play.

Dark Sector is gonna be interesting. I too like the original idea/look but I am interestedt to see how it will play. I haven't played anything with this blade concept in quite awhile. Better than another run of the mill shooter(I hope)

I would say, storywise, Halo > Gears of War, gameplaywise Gears of War > Halo.

I have no doubt that Dark Sector will feel a bit repetitive, but what game isnt :S

The multiplayer is a add on for some replay value it wont stand out much, but 2 modes isnt gonna cut it, and I doubt they are the type of DLC company who keeps releasing DLC.

I just wish the company went all crazy with that metallic arm of his.
For example if he could SHAPE his arms into some sort of a big blade like that guy in Terminator 2, that would be bad ass.
Or shape his arm into a cool metallic riot like shield, for cover or something.

Krull>Dark Sector. Wouldn't be suprised if the change in direction came one lazy Sunday after playing GOW all day and being suprised by said 80's classic on an obscure sattelite channel. In fact, I bet that's EXACTLY what happened. ;)

The game ended up not being engaging, no interest in story at all you just played on for playing sake.
DigitalExtreme tends to excel at graphics, but lack good story most of the time.

Whats funny is that they didn't even think of Krull AFTER the concept of the glaive was done in early development. Then one day one of them thought about Krull and showed it to other team and they laughed at it, but they still decided to keep it.

So it is like Krull so what, its a cool weapon period, if done right. I am glad they wanted the weapon to be as brutal as possible.

It's like saying Catwoman has a whip as weapon, now that Indiana Jones has a whip he is copying Catwoman :S

It is just a weapon in period, if its cool, use it.The story is simple really.

A virus outburst is in Lasria, Hayden gets sent in in Lasria for a final job, and his mission is to locate a former agent from the agency gone rogue.

Hayden goes to Lasria trying to find the bad guy, and he gets infected, but how it ends up is obviously ment to be played.

Hayden has this sickness that he can't feel pain or something or he can control it of some kind, that is why he is what he is later in the game.


The story isnt no masterpiece, its your simple virus outburst type of story, Resident Evil if you want.
One thing that the majority don't know is that Dark Sector is planned as a trilogy.

I am actually looking forward to this one. I was not particular enthralled with Dark Sector's "first phase" look, but it was early work so... But after the metamorphosis it's become quite nice looking.

Now someone mentioned that throwing and waiting for the glaive would make for bad game play. Seems to mimic the developer's thoughts, for that why you can now battle with both glaive and a pistol type weapon in in your hands, shooting targets as the glaive does it's glaive stuff.

In fact some enemies REQUIRE the dual-wield setup: game play videos show some of the soldiers are using riot shields. You cant shoot through it with firearms and the glaive impact staggers the soldier in a manner where he is not defending himself properly with the shield. By the time you can throw the glaive again he is blocking with the shield once more. Enter dual wield. Glaive shield soldier, stagger him, shoot him with pistol and neutralize next target. Mint!

One thing in general that I dont get is why throwable, multi-bladed weapons are refered to as "glaives" when glaives are actually a type of polearm(think halberd) and are very real indeed. Strange...

Ha. Yeah. I was wrong. This game is totally going to pwn Gears of War. I should have seen the light sooner. I'm sure the reviews will show that too. No doubt the meta score and gamerankings scores will be much higher. Why didn't you tell me?!

No offense, but there's something wrong with you if 1) you were anything BUT completely blown away by Gears of War, or 2) think THIS game is going to wow you in a way Gears didn't. Truly sad.

I know that sounds arrogant, but I really am. I've been calling games for years. I have yet to be proven wrong. I'm telling you, this game will bomb. It's crap. You can either trust me, or find-out for yourself and/or convince yourself otherwise. But if you honestly believe that you'll like this more than Gears, then you're the one with the problems here. Somehow I found myself playing FF12 instead of Gears Of War while the limited edition was sitting next to me on the table staring at me the whole time I was playing FF12.
The moment I did play GOW, I again...was not...charmed.

"Got"pwned Dark Sector is not trying to be the next Gears of War "genius", it is trying to be a new IP.

Reviews don't mean shit, it is just one persons opinion on the game.

I might as well make a noob site and do a review and give it a score, it doesn't mean the majority well all of a sudden like this.

I like this game because of the glaive weapon (reminds me of Predator), I like the full mutation body armor that Hayden gets (from the original concept of the game), I like that the camera is close to Resident Evil 4 (I loved RE4), I like how gory and brutal this game is, I like its little pieces of music scores that it plays from Keith Power....and above all...I am willing to give it a shot even if it didn't meet my expectations and not calling it i a shitty game (unlike you).

I don't predict stuff, even when predicting something you can always be wrong about it, your your predictions is only good for your own, doesn't mean everyone else will start having the same mind like you have.

I have spoken to one of the devs from Digital Extremes in 2007, they have taken my advice on things for the game, like getting rid of that tiger sound when throwing the glaive, adding air wave to the glaive when its acitivated...etc.

They appreciated my enthusiasm for the game, and they offered me 2 free swag posters because they knew how much I like Dark Sector.

Besides, for someone that is always "right" you seem awefully have a big ego for not listening to others.

I NEVER said Dark Sector will replace Gears of War, I hope it doesn't remind me of Gears of War.

Each gameplay video I have seen from Dark Sector keeps reminding me more and more of Resident Evil 4 and Uncharteds simple cover mechanic.

If you have such a "naive" way of predictions why am I not playing Gears of War right now while I have the game on my shelve?
Why aren't I excited for Gears of War 2?
Because I know how it plays, it was good while it lasted, for like 1½ months, but that was it.

Now I am not saying Dark Sector will not be the same or will be the same, I am just saying that for all these years I can finally get my hands on the game and play it.

Even I can say that the reviews will be mixed bag and it will be around 7 to 8 out of 10 from various sites, who knows maybe a 6, but that doesn't mean that I shouldn't pick it up.

I just like how on each Dark sector thread that shows up you just come in bash it and keep continueing this face to prove to yourself that you are right....to your own mind.

^^Thing is...I hate most demos. To me, they almost never show what the final game has to offer.
So yeah...I'll probably end up buying this just because it reminds me of RE. (story/gameplay wise)

Ah the decisions :)
But I decided to pick up the PS3 version, because I cancelled my XBL Gold account (no online play), and I am not so much into achievements, so thats another one.

Dark Sector has been on PS3 as lead platform, but they had a few problems, but they fixed it all out and they said it is running equally as smooth.
And because it is their own in-house engine (Evolution engine) both versions looks and plays great, so no ports :D

Most videos these new version are being released are being shown on the PS3, and it looks just as greta as the 360 version, so I am gonna enjoy this.


And they have some plans for the PS3 version for the upcoming HOME, so you never know what they are gonna ad, if any.

And the rest is just techincal features like 360 freezing, overheating...etc. you get the idea.

And free online for PS3 so I don't have to worry about the next payment, saves me money for other games and stuff in general :)

But I am easily gonna go with the PS3 version.

Besides, I want to keep my 360 as clean and possible for Ninja Gaiden 2 :D

gears of war basically appealed to 12 year old graphics whores. it was about as dissapointing a game as they come. gameplay was repetative as all hell, no character developement, or character PERIOD, and the story was practically non existant. its a decent enough game, but nothing worth shouting about. much like the halo series, its received high critical acclaim because it was the FIRST really hypable game for the 360. much like halo was for the xbox. look deeper and both series are shaloow, run of the mill shooter that have nothing but mediocrity written all over them. but hell, keep enjoying that shit of a game. i'll stick to stuff that deserve their praise thanks.

Ok, time for me to chime in. 1st, Gears wasn't repetitive, you had varied levels and level design. With quite a few memorable moments.

Second, you guys forgot that you can make a SHIELD to protect yourself against attacks. This is very useful in multiplayer when another Hayden on the other team throws their glaive at you. Go check the videos.

Third, this game looks exciting and original enough, plus it's got awesome foley effects and Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor!). I'm very interested in how the elemental attacks will play out, sorta like Bioshock. Who's ever had a game whose gameplay is based solely around throwing a blade boomerang around, and you can control its flight, and have your 3rd person shooter, have elements in the mix, sweet-looking boss battles, and with what seems like a very full-fledged multiplayer? I don't know about you, but I'm picking this up no matter what the reviews say. Learn to trust your instincts.

Also, you can grab weapons from far away with your glaive, kinda like Zelda.

Lucky for everyone else, you few, whether you be girls/emos/n00bs/ps3 fanboys/Gears-haters etc. etc. only represent a very small portion of the gaming market. Let us all get back to pretending this emo Hayden guy with his gimmick blade and Gears cover system and roadie run is better than Gears itself! (but I know, it's not try to be Gears, even tho the devs said they changed it to become more appealing like the other games (GEARS) which were selling well. I know. I know.)
