Once again, popular magazine Famitsu continues to feed us on news. This time it is Persona 4's turn to be exposed in no less than five pages for this edition. Since its surprising announcement as a Playstation 2 title, Atlus confirms that its next little gem will be very near Persona 3 from a gameplay perspective. Click for to know more.
As for the changes, the action will take place in the countryside with the principal themes being horror, suspense and mystery. The meteo will also play a determining role in the events that will unfold, by example when there's fog a murder automatically happens within the community. Not changing from its old tricks, this fourth entry in the series will feature alternative endings, over 180 Personas and 60-70 hours of game play.
Another good news is the developers completed 85% of the game and are saying it is 1.5x bigger than Persona 3. The release date in Japan is set to July 10, 2008.
Wow, 1.5x bigger than Persona 3? It took me 100 hours to beat P3 on my first go around... now I'm scared. Hopefully Atlus USA will pick this up soon before everything goes 100% next-gen (or current-gen depending on how you look at it). Because of the next-gen consoles, we don't see many Playstation 2 games in the pipeline with the exception of Atlus and Nis America titles, and ports (In North America anyways). I'm glad to see more games for my favorite system. =)
then don't buy it.
that may sound trite but that is really pretty much your counter to it
it has nothing to do with being "stuck in the past". i don't know why some ppl seem to think devs make this some sort of personal statement to stick it to the gamers or something. some sort of personal insult.
the fact is they decided to make Persona 4 on the ps2 because the ps2 still makes good money, because ppl still buy new games for it and they stand a better chance of making money on it than the other consoles (and considering their name isn't Nintendo or S-E, that includes the Wii). so until that isn't the case, the ps2 is going to be a completely viable option in their book.
don't like it? don't buy it. and when that actually starts to affect the viability of the ps2, then they'll change.
as an analyst recently said (i forget who atm, but who it was isn't really important), at this point the ps2 should be considered right in there with any of the "current gen" consoles, as on any given month its still capable of huge hardware sales as well as still being a major software platform force.
I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't know how awesome this series is. P3 was better than almost anything on the current consoles. Can't wait for P4, even if it were releasing on PS1.
P3 is so repetitive and monotonous, for a -long- year you only: study, tell people what "they" want to hear, fight in Tartarus and getting bored with almost identical levels, and take a cup of coffee or eat a hamburger... that and little more can be done in the game for more than 70 hours! I'm not saying that the game is bad: has a good characters design (except for the Emo protagonist), a nice battle system, decent replay value, etc... but it's far from being "awesome".
I prefer a game closest to any previous titles in the series, at least not another game about a bunch of kids (and a dog) saving the world (so lame), with an unconvincing and poorly structured story.
Posted by Jollipop This game should have been on the PS3 and I REALLY mind it being on the PS2, they could have at least brought it to the Wii instead of the PS2.
I know what you mean. When I eventually purchase a PS3 it will not be for Killzone or Metal Gear. It will be for Final Fantasy and games like this.
I'm going to want my PS3 to take over my PS2's current responsibilities as my main Japanese RPG console.

Okay, this is wierd. Autoscrolling is smooth as buttah, but manually scrolling is all skippy when lots of images are on screen. (51 minutes ago)

I'm going to try a fresh install, though I hate doing that. (1 Hour ago)

It was flawless with 3.0, but after the update the scrolling is all hitchy, especially across the bottom of the page. Maybe it's the Top Stories section, I don't know... (1 Hour ago)

Awesome! I don't mind that it's on PS2, but why the hell is this game still 4:3?!
