A vile leaker revealed the first (numerous) images of Sonic Unleashed to the face of the world, with two bunch of images. The first one showcases what looks like sixty-three (!) in-engine screenshots, and the second one CGI cutscene captures. Oh, and there's an artwork too. If we are to judge from the graphics - which looks surprisingly like Blue Dragon - the platforms of release should be Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. We won't know until Sega brings us their press release, which shouldn't be long to come.
Update: Full update of the galleries.
Update2: Announcement teaser added.

Commented on 2008-03-23 07:33:38Really, it brings back the old memories of when Mario64 came out... everything was in so basic 3D but nothing more was required... everything related and important was so meaningful and vivid... its the same now!
Sand fortress reminds me of the Haven city in the excellent PS2 game Jak 3, the suburbs are modeled exactly the same... although the first city in Jak 3 was more sand/desert oriented but architecture-wise, Haven city is much more resembling...

Commented on 2008-03-23 12:13:38Dennis, from the German magazine SEGA On, the worlds last official SEGA Magazine, has confirmed that Sonic Unleashed will indeed be a multiplatform release:
"Sonic unleashed will be on the cover of the next PLAY magazine, it will also feature in Nintendo's magazine (NOM) and will be in the August issue. The screens I have uploaded are from the Xbox 360 version of the game, however, the game is going to be a multiformat release."
This confirms both a 360 and a Wii version, at least.

Commented on 2008-03-23 12:26:01The screens of the sunny town makes me think on Super Mario sunshine. I wish a good gameplay in this game, cause the last next gen Sonic games... disapointed me so much.
PD: No way is this a Wii game. It would be a PS3/Xbox360 game surelly.

I had hope when I heard that this was mainly a side scrolling game and similar to the decent, but highly overrated Secret Rings. But Eggman has genetically modified Sonic to so he turns into a .. Werewolf?

Commented on 2008-03-23 16:10:04Adventure and Secret Rings will go down in history as the best 3D Sonic games then. I will miss the likes of Pirate Storm from SaTSR. :/

A completely 2D Sonic game with high res kof-xii type graphics would be great, too. Sharp, detailed and fluid 2D graphics can best a lot of the cool 3D graphics nowadays.

Commented on 2008-03-23 23:51:16The last Sonic game I played was that one with the Sonic vs Shadow thing going (it sucked so badly I cannot remember what it was called!!!)
Played Sonic Adventure on my DC the other day, and still love it to bits, so I've got high hopes for this one, as I always thought that Sonic Adventure nailed the 3D ring sections, and this looks to take on a more Genesis-era side-on stance at times.
I agree with Denjin, a good 2D-HD (??) rendition would rock.
