It's become usual now, Famitsu this week reveals a new female fighter for Soul Calibur IV. She's called Angol Fia, and hopefully we'll get better scans soon.

Angol, is sexy like gloria from devil may cry 4.
I think, the more um, interesting characters, the better. People are making too big a deal about both of them. ok, the elf girl doesn't fit? what? and Link, Tira, astaroth or... Darth Vader do? only reason you think they don't belong is because you'd rather have the same set of characters for the rest of the series, which would be boring. Part of the attraction to the soul calibur series is the diversity in characters
People haven't even played as these new characters yet and their already saying they could never play as them. You might find out that they play really well, you might find out otherwise.
the more the better, just wait people!

And yes, Astaroth - a golem - fits more than an elf.
Seriously, don't presume to know why we don't think certain characters belong. I only ever played SC2, so I'm not interested in the "same set of characters for the rest of the series." That doesn't mean that I can't find certain characters out of place. Part of my attraction to SC2 was that the characters didn't seem completely retarded (ie: no schoolgirls or guitar-playing witches) despite being varied enough.

So Angol is supposed to be the character on the PS3 box who had Ivy stand in for her?

Sure, literature is a better means of storytelling, and sure, videogames are not and never will be fine art.. but to suggest that creative people don't work within the videogame industry would just be flat out insulting to thousands of people.
Games are games, but they're not like sports.. maybe in how they're played or received but certainly not in how they're designed.

This makes me think that they added Yoda and Vader just so these new characters don't seem so terrible

Video games are used in fine art every day, it's only a matter of time before it becomes even more immersed so that you can't say that statement whatsoever
Literature will be better than most everything, simply because the imagination is limitless
There is a lot of creativity within the game industry, games like Katamari, Killer 7, Gary's Mod, Crazy Taxi, Little Big Planet, Seaman, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, No More Heroes, ETC (the list is huge) wouldn't exist. Machines like the Dreamcast showed us just how creative a collective group of creators can be. The Nintendo DS is continually proving everyone wrong and that the touch technology they decided on was a genius move of creativity. The Nintendo Wii has the possibility of doing the same.
To say their is no creativity in video games is just stupid. Benchmarks would never be made, successful franchises could never be possible. Online consoles wouldn't be rampant, and consoles wouldn't be taking the attention away from pcs as much as they do now.

To say that there is no creative people in the video game industry, you're either kidding yourself or are completely oblivious to what goes into making a decent game. The character designers, the story and dialogue writers, the music composers, the modelers, the texture artists, even writing good code would be considered a creative feat by some.
I would say that to fully immerse a person in an interactive story while all they're really doing is staring at flashing lights on a screen takes a great deal of creativity. From the simplest of games like Portal to the more heavy undertakings like Mass Effect or Call of Duty, I don't think that you can play these games for even a few minutes and claim that there is no creative effort that goes in them.
