2008-04-21 11:05:49 by BlimBlim
Unreal Tournament 3 for the Xbox 360 is finally unveiled via this trailer. Midway had announced that this version would add 5 new maps and 2 new characters, along with a split-screen mode. And Mark Rein also told the OXM that a Gears of War 2 surprise would be included too.
Update: Added 5 images from the Xbox 360 version.

I own a 360 and I won't be buying this. Just doesn't show off nothing special tbh. Doesn't grab me and shout. "Play me, I'm better than other fps' you whore!"

This is a pretty big meh.
Looks just like Unreal 2, which was horrible.
I think GTA4 and NG2 will keep me pretty entertained this summer...

They'd be able to sell alot of copies with a Gears 2 demo included, but they already said that wont be the case.
But for the love of jeebus, at least release a demo of UT3 on XBL so people can get a taste of the goods, otherwise this will bomb hard.

I honestly don't understand why this game seems to attract so much hate, I think it looks bloody awesome, and as a 360 owner, I was pretty gutted about the delay. Looking forward to it, but as a multiplayer-focused game I don't want to get it if no-one else does. I just think it looks like some proper fun carnage, like 2K3/4

A) Because PC gamers don't diss this game, and
B) PS3 owners would diss this game just because its coming to 360, and has more content after that rumor about space limitation or some bull shit.
I'll be buying because i've been a fan of it since i played it for the first time on Dreamcast years ago.

Sorry for what I am about to say, but I have always considered Unreal Tournament as a game for kids who like to spend hours playing this brainless shit and then be proud when they make a few kills, thinking 'they own everybody's ass'. Graphics are ok though.

Looks very good to me and identical to the superb PS3 version bar the addition of the splitscreen mode (which means lots more screen tearing judging by the footage on GameTrailers.com).
Apparently the Xbox 360 version doesn't support user-made mods though which is a big blow for the game as the PC and PS3 versions really do benefit from them as creative users can literally transform the game with new maps, game modes, vehicles and characters, giving it a virtually unlimited lifespan. Without mods, Unreal Tournament would surely feel crippled...? :?
Still I'm sure many Xbox 360 owners will just be grateful to be able to finally play the game and IMO this game retains the same addictiveness and fast pace of the earlier versions and is loads of fun to play.

- Stop clogging the levels with so much visual noise. It's nice screenshot stuff but very annoying.
- Don't make the characters so huge
- Remove all the things that they added in the sequels and bring back everything that they ditched. It just isn't UT.
It might not innovate but at least it will know what it is and be good in that instead of trying to be everything and fail miserably.

- Huge levels are not fun, they only slow the pase of the game as you have to go further when you die.
- Vehicles have no place in Ut gameplay.

I think UT3 is a great game. I like to play it every now and then. There really isn't a shooter that feels like UT3. Classic fast-paced arcade action. This game really needs skills... you can't just run around and win. Pro players will own you (and me too). Also UT series has nice weapons and how you can use them. Like that rocket launcher... It's a bit different than UT2004 but I don't mind. Both are extremely fun and good games.

Fast paced arcade action (=brainless crap)
This game needs skills (=like I said 'playing it for hours and hours')
Pro players will own you (and me too) (=so pathetic and childish, you will never own me unless I become your slave and I don't think that will ever happen)
But please enjoy the game. That's what gaming is all about.

You need to play games a lot to get the skills.
Ok fine that's your opinion and I am fine with it and thanks I will enjoy the game.

just bought this for ps3. had enough of waiting (and we'll STILL be waiting a while to get the 360 version) and the mod support is the deal maker for me. a couple more maps and characters in the 360 version isnt really going to compete with free maps which hit the mod/mapping scene pretty much daily. plus new character models and skins....i mean, they just brought out a 2D mod for ps3/PC which looks cool as hell.
if...and i mean IF this game kicks off in a big way on the 360 and all my mates buy it, then i MAY re-buy on the 360, but from the comments here i say its not going to do too well. in which case i'll stick to the ps3 version.

i dont think game like these really have big market on consoles yet( heavely miltu player based games)
we prefer a game like halo3, resistance, or gears that coms with great story etc, MP as bonus replay value
and epic should beglad MS signed them up to do GEars, other this game is a mess
