Images of Silent Hill

Konami recently announced that the new Silent Hill game will go under the name Silent Hill: Homecoming, and that it will be released at the end of September in Europe. Here is a couple of not so impressive images from the game itself.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced the official title of its first Silent Hill game for PLAYSTATION®3 and Xbox 360. Entitled Silent Hill: Homecoming, the game will be released end of September this year across Europe.

The sixth installment in the classic video games series, Silent Hill: Homecoming introduces another protagonist to the mythos. The story follows Alex Shepherd, returning to his hometown of Shepherd’s Glen to investigate the sudden disappearance of his brother. From Shepherd’s Glen to Silent Hill, Alex must face the darkest of horrors in order to find his brother. Struggling with his own grip on reality, Alex must unravel the mystery behind his nightmares, discover the truth behind his brother’s disappearance, and confront the evil lurks in the seemingly empty streets of Silent Hill.

Homecoming is the first Silent Hill title for the new wave of ‘next generation’ consoles, featuring all-new graphics that bring the fear and terror of Silent Hill alive like never before. Alex must survive attacks from the misshapen denizens of the town using an all-new enhanced combat system that provides a wide array of attacks and counters. Along the way, Alex will encounter a variety of weapons to battle these horrific monsters and must also solve deadly puzzles as he uncovers the darkest secrets of Silent Hill.

Silent Hill: Homecoming also features an all-new soundtrack by acclaimed series composer Akira Yamaoka.

Game is developed on Jupiter Extended engine (F.E.A.R. ,Condemned: Criminal Origins, Project Origin,Condemned 2: Bloodshot ).

Looking at those games, Silent Hill could definitely look better then this pics :|

Now that's just stupid. GTAIV is a completely different type of game, and looks stunning in motion.

Not only that, there are plenty of games out using the same engine as this on consoles which look significantly better. This isn't an engine design issue, rather a development cutback.

Doesn't look too impressive. Anyway, why did Konami take away the SH reigns from KCET and give it to The Collective? Horrible decision.

I had to scroll up again to see if the 360/PS3 logos are there.It's that bad.
What does GTA IV have with this ? That game looks a million times better.This is worse than GTASA.

sorry for posting once again xD but i was watching gameplay videos and the pictures above are 100% not xbox 360 or ps3, because he doesnt have hair strands in those pictures above and in the gameplay he does have hair strands.(i am the best detective ever) so the pictures above are bogus.

The Collective made Buffy and Indiana Jones on the Xbox. The Collective is making Silent Hill 5 on the Xbox360. The Xbox360 is better than the Xbox. Buffy and Indiana Jones look better than Silent Hill 5. THIS DOES NOT COMPUTE!!! Lol!

I still think SH3 is the best looking of ALL the SH games, including this one so far. But remember they do have almost half a year before release, you never know, things could improve. I remember Dead Rising had some pretty massive changes in graphics leading up to its release.

I'd love that to be the case but remember that the earlier Dead Rising screenshots and videos came from a build that was developed using an unfinished development kit. Also I think Dead Rising is the only game that has made THAT drastic an improvement from original shots/videos to finished game.

Neither of these games come close to the Xbox's best graphics games like Splinter Cell 3, Doom and Chronicles Of Riddick (despite COR's lack of anti-aliasing) so I don't think the Xbox is being overestimated, this just looks REALLY bad! (Maybe you're underestimating the Xbox360?)

This must be an error, no way this game looks this bad compared to the trailers from awhile back with the real time deforming walls.

By the way, seeing as I like Silent Hill and I like at least 2 of The Collective's previous games why would I be saying that about the graphics if it wasn't true? What a load of crap. As if engineering knowledge has anything to do with geographical background. If those Japanese engineers are so much better, why is it that there are so many european and american games that put japanese visuals to shame? Ever heard of Ue3.0?
