Here is that much (?) awaited time, the video comparison of both PS3 and 360 versions of Grand Theft Auto IV by Dot50cal. And in the end, the differences seem to be totally meaningless. Some speak about aliased shadows, 630p and other niceties, but what I see here is a slight difference in tint. But I guess fanboys will find much to argue about anyway.
We'll do another video showing what should (or not?) be the big difference between the game, the famous pop-ins.

Excitebike was 8-bit, the game rocked and had nothing to do with the graphics, so blow all this pretentiousness out your ass and get a life - or get gaming.
Commented on 2008-04-30 01:01:14Was getting the 360's, but my mate got the RROD so I got the PS3 one and gave him a lend of my 360 till he gets it back. Didn't really make a difference to me. But compareing them ysing my PS3 with HDMI and 360 with the VGA cable ( using the component they both looked the same ) the 360 looked less colourful but had really good AA. The PS3's did have better pop in's. But it don't matter yer still gonna play it ... right?

Commented on 2008-04-30 04:56:45I think the Softer edges of the PS3 version suits the game better, and overuse of effects is a technique more devs should be relying on. It was the basis for Shadow of the Colossus, and that game was truly beautiful.

And now with GTA4, with the rumored 100 million dollars spent on development alone (most of which on NASA engineers decoding teh Cell, no doubt), and all that experience developing on notoriously complicated Sony hardware, not to mention the extra development time spent on PS3 because of the delay, there's just no logical reason the PS3 version should be technically inferior--not unless teh Cell was simply over-hyped to sell units. But I think most of us already knew that.
I recall Sony claiming PS2 would render Toy Story graphics in real-time. Anyone else? I think they must have been talking about just playing the actual Toy Story DVD... This gen is no different. I'm just glad news like this eventually gets out and more people wake-up to reality.
Commented on 2008-04-30 11:47:23lol Yea once 640p, and no AA got out there it got bad, all sites are reporting it. Seriously all this misinformation from the journalists should be fixed with a re-review, but all this info is getting out there, so w/e. Oh, from what people have played of both are having more framerate issues in the PS3 version then the 360 one. And, 60gb/20gb PS3 users are having there game crash/freeze on them(sadly), R* is releasing a patch for it. Anywho, get w/e version and have fun.

It's kind of sad and pathetic you can't get something as old as this right. As many people have pointed out here, the two versions look and play nearly identical with differences appealing only to personal taste. The 360 version is slightly sharper with a blue, more natural light but suffers from pop in problems. The PS3 has an HDD install which reduces load times and has an upscaled image that also employs filtering and has better frame rate. The only real advantage the 360 has is the extra DLC, which I'm sure ms will charge gamers out the wazoo for. It's funny how you rant about the upscaling - how quickly you have forgotten Halo 3? PGR3? CoD4 was upscaled and it looks stellar, so really, what does it matter? Just enjoy the game, on whichever console you have.
