I really just think it looks ok. Some parts look quite nice, but things like that town look bloody aweful.

I don't trust Square. They'll only use the Xbox360 to test a new IP, but we will never see an up to date Final Fantasy game. Just look at what they gave us when they released the very outdated Final Fantasy XI for the Xbox360. It was pure garbage.

character models look GREAT, backgrounds look nice, not as impressive, but they look good enough. The game is a nice realisation of the art style, though the characters are attractive, but rather typical anime style. Overall its really nice looking. More interested in this than the other 360 rpgs, though not as much as the ff games or WKS.

Kids look very annoying though...hopefully they play very little role

omegaheat Squre is just the publisher for this title, the developer is Tri-Ace.

Like stated, the develpoer is Tri-Ace and the publisher Square-Enix.
I do agree with you though, Square-Enix haven't shown any serious support for 360 but I think it'll hurt them as a company in the end, as to reach the larger western audience you need to be releasing your games on 360, somthing lots of Japanese developers have already caught onto leaving Square-Enix to look very stupid.

360 unfortunately still isn't doing too well in the east. They're keeping main Final Fantasy games off of it because they appreciate Japanese money. You should be lucky you even got to experience FFXI at all, but since it's a MMO it was easy to port it. Honestly, I don't mind them making new IPs. I'll take Infinite Undiscovery and Last Remnant just to see if they're still capable of making original titles. The World Ends with You for the DS was a refreshing, fun, and original game.

This "larger western audience" only applies to one dominating system. And it's made by Nintendo.

WKS was shown on E3 06 and it was rediculous... another CG Graphics Be"lie"ve! The worst part was the DQVIII Rip-Off look and the clunky combat system.
I just hope for a really good Gameplay trailer soon to rid this game from the same lousy fate.

I really loved Radiata Stories... and to this day I believe that its one of the very very few games that came close to the Level-5 style free-gameplay in a RPG. It did fell short in comparison to the outstanding Dark-Cloud2 from Level-5 but it was really really fun.

Having seen Tri-Ace developing a 360 game did remind me of how much Microsoft is following the footsteps of Sony in making 360 just like the PS2. They're either buying or approaching all those developers whose games made PS2 so great. Its funny though that 360 is getting the under-achiever FF-XI from Square-Enix and this game above also shows no great merits as far as screens are showing. Even if they had the Radiata like art-style, I would've been envying this... but the game looks absolutely lifeless.

I don't see that any of these RPGs could achieve the freedom level of LEVEL-5's White Knight Story for the PS3 !!!

If it was CG then how do you know that it was the combat system? Also, DQ8 was cel shaded, WKS was not as far as I remember.

Dhu.
CG Trailer Debut with some taste of Lie and make Be"lie"ve that those were the real visuals, in the same fashion as Killzone 2 and so many. And the year after some gameplay/combat was shown... and what a dissapointment.

So? XIII is Cell-Shaded and it doesn't make it less a FPS than all other games.
It's the same Open-World All-Colourful Theme game, well, a bit like this game.
I Just hope it's in better shape than what was shown of the Crappy WKS Preview ( probably in beter state now, who knows ) at that time.

You are doing it wrong.
You mean the under-acheiver-overrated FFXII, not the superior game that is the MMO.
WKS...Freedom? lol.
Moar like, Bugland Undiscovery. Envy is a ugly thing ya know.

wow, are opinions are completely different.

Either way, while I think this looks great, WKS definitely looks more interesting to me. You really shouldnt hold this up yet, until we have seen some interesting gameplay.

Its funny though, because the gameplay reveal of WKS was just a statement of intent, the gameplay revealed was pretty early, but the graphics were essentially the same...we will see how the game looks when it is properly revealed, but from the videos available, the premise looks at least as ambitious as this game...

From what I could tell it looked relatively the same. Although I usually don't make it a practice to rate or judge a game that has only had 1 or 2 previews in its entire liftetime of development.

I'm sorry, when you said how it "looks" earlier I didn't know you were talking about the type of genre. I'll make note of that in the future.

As far as I know FFXII sold more than FFXI. Sure, it was different(it even took place in the Ivalice world), but trying new things is a good thing. Also, obviously it will be a long time before regular rpgs become as gigantic as MMO titles. MMOs continually add new content through patches and expansions. Regular games do not really do this. There are a few companies that add episodic content, but it's usually nothing more than a few levels that last you about 3 hours.

"Moar like, Bugland Undiscovery". Once again I usually don't make it a practice to rate or judge a game before it comes out.

Honestly, it sounds like you're disgusted with any rpg games coming out for any system this gen. Then again, it could be something else entirely.

Would like to know exactly what your refering to this? This game is probobly more mature then the mayority of the games you play when you come with a statment like this.

Check your av. You're into drawings of kids. It's an Asian (and those who worship them) thing. If you're not Asian, you need a new hobby.

Game looks great to me, Tri-Ace is easily the best rpg developer out there imo. Due to that I have complete faith that this game will be great. (Far better than that rubbish White Knight Stories that will be coming out from Level 5. Never did like Level 5 all that much)

This could be the first square released title ive liked since SO3, but who knows...

Trust tri-Ace more than I do Level 5.

They gave themselves a long ladder to climb when they showed the bad gameplay videos at TGS. Let's hope they can make it.

At least tri-Ace knows to keep quiet until they're done to show off gameplay.
