Like many Europeans I'm not really into American Football and tend to "forget" about writing news about these games, but this BackBreaker demo video sure was nice enough to force me out of my natural laziness and write something about it. Remember Euphoria? That procedural animation system used with mostly a lot of success (but not always) in GTA IV? Well, imagine this great engine used for an Ameran Football game, and in terms of animation you get to wonder why EA Sports keeps using an old animation system...

If I read and understand the article correctly, it seems that Euphoria could take over all animations in the game, or just in certain circumstances. It's up to the developer in how to use it and to what extent. For example, the running animation in Euphoria could be just a motion-captured/hand-written animation, while the walking animation could be using the Euphoria technology. It's basicly just a tool.
