Sony released these new shots of Resistance 2 for the US version of the Gamer's Day, proving once and for all that the lighting and shadowing is looking very good this time!
looks like everything has a lot more depth to it. bump maps add a while lot too. its nothing amazing, but i prefer what i see here to what other engines can do (UE3)
as for the screens being photoshoped? i dont agree. resistance 1 and ratchet and clank for that matter looked just as smooth in game. so i have nothing to be wary about personally. they may have been touched up a tiny bit. but after playing ratchet and clank its doubtfull.
as for the game itself. i loved the first (3rd best FPS i've played this gen after bioshock and cod4) had a good story, great enemy and level design, original weapons for a change) and overall was very fun. although admitidly it was very brown...and while these screen arnt axactly bursting with colour, they are a lot more colourfull. im looking forward to it. after killzone 2 its pretty much the only FPS im psyched about in the coming years.
The game looks great, and its a really good improvement from the first one (at least visually). But after watching the Multiplayer videos (in which you could perfectly appreciate jaggies) I cannot believe the amount of AA those screens have... although its a common practice nowadays in every game they show, so :P
Remove the supersampling (aka give us real screenshots) and you have a flat, low resolution textured mediocre looking game. Even at 60fps this doesnt seem to hold a candle to something like COD4 (also 60fps).
I'm going to have to go out on a limb and disagree. Both this and the recent KZ2 shots may have been "bullshots" to a certain degree, but I think it will look pretty awesome in its final form anyway. The first Resistance Fall of Man is by no means a bad looking game.. and Call of Duty aint perfect either.
