Sony released these new images of Home, looking quite nice for a MMO environment indeed.

I hate the characters, Everyone is 25 years old, attractive and thin. Its just dull predictable bullshit thats made for god knows who? can you guys really associate with a perfect world like that?

I might end up loving it, but right now I am yet to see the point, If I want to hang out and chat with my friends I'll set up a game of something, and we'll all chat while we play. So, I can stand in a room not doing much, looking at other people stood in a room not doing much, and we can chat. Hell I can do that in public.

Honestly, I am not trolling I just don't get it. I would understand it if it were the sims or something, but it isnt, its just a place you go to "hang out" and browse the DLC. its like some gigantic version of the sony shop, but in 3D.
I guess you'll miss out on seeing all of those developer videos that are going to be there. Ubisoft being the first for Ubidays.

I dont like the idea of home it seems very facebook and big brother. In other words its a trendy application for pop culture.

I really don't see why all the features it provides cant be done with a menu system, it really is just a big novelty.

To me home has never had an appeal and I really don't care if it ever comes out.

I think sony should focus on getting me more triple A titles or competing with microsoft with proper online functionality instead of gimmicks.

But why would they be hidden in home, why not shove them in the shop? thats what has happened to date, and no doubt the ubidays stuff will be posted on sites (like this one), and I'd hazard a guess that it will appear in the PS store too, why limit the distribution of your advertisements? If really thats a valid reason for home "you'll be able to get different adverts, and you can play a crap version of bowling"

For something Sony won't be able to properly support this gen, they sure are taking a lot of time on it

While I can definitely see that there will be lots of people who will love this sort of thing, for me it's not very appealing.

It has some nice ideas for sure, like the trophy room and the amount of customisability. But overall it seems like your just throwing time down the toilet. A pretty toilet with bells and whistles, but a toilet all the same.

In the case of something like another Sony Gamers Day you go be in HOME and not have to worry about other sites slowing down or not being able to view them at all. It's instant and more convenient, if it's during a time for you personally. Obviously Europeans/Japanese/Americans are in different time zones so to each his own in that regard.

I dont know why "home" would have a better delivery method than the playstation store? It would be using the same infrastructure.
Sony and Microsoft have both had their problems with heavy download traffic, its not like they can disregard the laws of physics, content still has to travel across the internet, and to be honest I have never had a problem with gamersyde for video content, Its always pretty reliable, I can get it from home & work. It was good when I lived in the UK, and its still pretty good now that I live in Singapore.

I do want to understand what it's all about. I still really just don't get it.

The only think I really care about in Home are the mini games included like chess or billiards and so on.
However I wouldn’t mind playing them like any other PSN or XBLA game (I’m waiting for the release of Shotest Shogi in XBLA atm). Yet they are free in Home as long as Home is free which makes them attractive for me. That’s all…

The thing I really need or lets better say want is the in game XMB and features related to it like friend invites to running games, that‘s what I really want.
Sony could release that and shove that fancy slow 3D surface for chats up their arse.

Pretty much exactly how I feel. A gimmick, to attempt to compete with Microsoft, instead of including some real functionality. I like being able to chat with my friends on my 360 using Windows Messenger while playing games, it's useful for setting up games, or just talking to them. I don't really see the need to have a fully 3D environment for that.

I'll probably use it a bit, create my own guy and set up the room, and then never touch it again. And for people who think MS over charge for themes and gamer pics, it's going to be amusing to see what Sony do here with furniture and clothes. Good way to make money I suppose, because you know some people are shallow enough to want to collect as much crap as possible so they can show off.

Does home remind anyone else of the city in Half Life 2, with all the screens everywhere. Anyway dunno what exactly home is for but hope it turns out good.

This is just going to be filled with ugly people pretending to be attractive - you can just tell ><

Looks like Second Life, without the userbase - and Second Life is bad enough!
