Microsoft has released the fourth video diary for Too Human, available here. The latest release date is August, and hopefully they will be able to meet the release date this time.
Update: Video is back.

This constant nagging about the animations is getting silly.

If Silicon Knights simply sucks at making character animations, how come we've never complained about it in any of their previous games?

Fable, Kameo, PoP, NG, DMC etc... Do any of these games allow the player to customize his appearence with over 100.000 different armor and weapon permutations?
You can't give your character the same type of freedom in animations as all these other games when you allow the player to choose almost limitless different armor combinations. Imagine how redicilous it would look in NG if Ryu was running just as fluidly as normally while wearing heavy armor. Everytime you drastically change the appearence of a character you have to account for that in animations aswell, and when you've got the kind of depth in custom appearence as in Too Human, you're bound to see a decrease in the quality of animations to make way for quantity.

For example do any of you know why the animations in Oblivion look as awkward as they do? It's got nothing to do with the huge and open world you travel in, tons of other huge sandbox type of games have already proven that. It's all because of the variety in armor and weapons you can equip. You just can't make a unique animation for every single armor set in an RPG game. In Diablo they simply made the character travel slower with the same sprite animation as always while wearing heavy armor.
For a game based on loot and gathering, I'm very happy to see that the animations look much better than than those found in WoW.

I'm gonna call bullshit on that. I don't for a second believe that armour and weapon combinations is what's limiting the animation. You honestly believe that they are coming up with a lot of shitty animations based on the armour that the character is wearing instead of a few good ones that only change depending on class and weapon? I doubt it.

Ronsauce Keep in mind that armors and so fort need to be animated as well, registed and it need to follow the pattern, In every game I know of, 'armors' is just another part of the body, different armors and design will result in different animations required.

I know of no game who truly use physic to animate cloting, in fact the CPU wouldn't be able to handle anything else beside that then.

There is many games who good animations is required, this is not one of em, this is not a close up combat RPG where all you see is just your char fighting, the selling point is way different then eg DMC.

I realize that, but I don't believe for one second that they had to decide between decent animation and having a good selection of armour.

?! This is EXACTLY what it is. Every gameplay video I've seen has ONLY been up close combat. I realize that it's trying to be closer to a Diablo-esque dungeon crawler than a NG-like action game, but I don't see why animation has to be an afterthought.

on the official xbox site it is labeled as an action adventure game with diablo-esque dungeon crawler elements. guess you could classify it in the zelda games genre. now go and look at zelda animation and then this game. see a major difference.

a game doesn't have to be DMC or NG to have excellent animation. but they need to be reasonable. this one is a mess

do not mistake my statement as a defense attempt for silicon knights. it is tho an undeniable truth that this game is NOT focused on the animation/stylish combat department......I mean Dark Alliance had VERY few and very basic animations (even back then) but very few complained because that was not the idea behind the game

still dark alliance was an over glorified isometric dungeon crawler which did not really require any complex animations whereas too human is fully 3d and supposingly SK have tried to make the whole game have a cinematic feel.....which fails completely if the characters move on screen like puppets in the hands of a retarded chubby-fingered kid

I WANT good animations and think that sucky ones are unacceptable in this generation of gaming BUT I am also saying that in this particular kind of game animations are not the main focus and bad ones are forgivable assuming the gameplay is good and at least visually the game holds up (of which I am still not convinced)
